The second season of HBO’s The Last of Us series was announced by its executive producer, Neil Druckmann. He said in a statement, “I’m humbled, honored and frankly overwhelmed that so many people have tuned in and connected with our retelling of Joel and Ellie’s journey,”.

Druckmann added, “The collaboration with Craig Mazin, our incredible cast and crew, and HBO exceeded my already high expectations. Now we have the absolute pleasure of being able to do it again with season two!”.

The Last of Us series writer Craig Mazin commented, “I’m so grateful to Neil Druckmann and HBO for our partnership, and I’m even more grateful to the millions of people who have joined us on this journey”. Adding later, “The audience has given us a chance to continue, and as a fan of the characters and world Neil and Naughty Dog created, I couldn’t be more ready to dive back in”.

The reviews and the support of the large audience led to the creation of a second season of the series. It stars Pascal and Ramsey as Joel and Ellie. It is based on a Playstation console game of the same name.

What can we Expect in the Second season?

Although HBO has not yet confirmed the plot of The Last of Us, some leaks indicate that the plot will not bear much resemblance to the game. The PlayStation version already has a second part, but this season will not have any of that story, as the production does not want fillers.

This would be nothing new in-game production, considering that some movies did not follow the line to the letter. An example is Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, whose movie had several variations of its PlayStation version.

In this plot, Joel and Ellie are trying to stay alive and lead a quiet life. However, new groups may want their blood to either monopolize a cure or gain power. There is also the option that they want to eliminate her. So that the cure will never come and not culminate the mandate.

HBO’s post-apocalyptic scenario should not undergo major changes. Although certain details from The Last of Us, the game, could appear. One example is the change or mutation of infected people, who become stronger and more resistant as if they were evolving. A suspense scene may also be added, with a stealth scene, as was added to the second part of the game.
