In the past few days, you’ve likely noticed people commemorating the fifth anniversary of Avengers: Endgame on social media. It’s been five years since the release of his last film. Yet we are still wondering about the fate of Chris Evans’ Captain America.

The Statue of Liberty stands as a tribute to the hero, but not even The Falcon and The Winter Soldier offered conclusive answers as to the fate of the elder Steve Rogers. This has left the character’s whereabouts simply as “missing.”

Now, the insider @MyTimeToShineH is asserting that Chris Evans has at last agreed to return to the role in Avengers: Secret Wars. While it remains uncertain if he will also feature in the untitled Avengers 5, it appears that this agreement is now finalized.

Insider Reveals Chris Evans Return as Captain America to the MCU

Before that, rumors suggest that we will witness the actor’s return to the MCU later this summer. Chris Evans could appear in Deadpool & Wolverine as the Human Torch. Although some anticipated that Marvel Studios might save this cameo for an Avengers movie. Additionally, his inclusion in an R-rated film could offer Evans the opportunity to enjoy reprising his initial superhero role.

If confirmed, this news would undoubtedly be significant. In addition, it’s reasonable to speculate that fellow MCU veterans Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson may end up doing the same.

Last November, reporters asked Chris Evans about rumors of his return to the role of Captain America. The actor responded, “You know, I see those reports all the time too, and to me it’s news.”

“I think every couple of months, someone says they’re going after Downey, and Hemsworth, and Scarlett , and they’re all coming back!”.

Chris Evans also said, “No one’s spoken to me about it. And look, I would never say never, but I’m very protective. It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right.”

Chris Evans has frequently avoided definitively ruling out a return to playing Captain America again and expressed similar sentiments several months earlier. “I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience,” he remarked. “But I’m also very precious with it. It’s something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t believe it even happened.”

“And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing. So, no time soon.”

Soon We Will Be Able to See How Kevin Feige’s Universe Evolves

We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out, but in many ways, this is news we’ve been waiting for. Rumors have been flying for some time now that Marvel Studios will reunite the original Avengers to conclude the Multiverse Saga. Plus this would be a perfect ending to wrap up after the mishmash of stories over the past few years.

Deadpool and Wolverine will hit theaters on July 26, while the next Avengers movies will be released on May 1, 2026 and May 7, 2027.
