The Penguin Series With Colin Farrell Finishes Filming

Recently, filming for the Colin Farrell Penguin series concluded, with Farrell hinting at it being one of the most “violent” and “twisted” series of recent times. During an interview with Jonatan Blomberg, the acclaimed actor discussed his experiences on set. Farrell revealed, “We wrapped it, man. We did it. Stuck a fork in it about two weeks ago. It was a long and really wonderful experience. And it’s dark, that’s what I can tell you about it. It’s really dark, and really heavy, I think, certainly it was doing it. But it’s incredibly violent.”

The Colin Farrell Penguin series portrays a man’s quest to realize his power and social standing aspirations. Farrell elaborates, “It’s one man’s rise to what he’s always dreamed of inhabiting, which is a certain power or social status.” Set to commence just one week after the events of The Batman, the series tracks Oswald Cobblepot’s relentless pursuit of dominance following Carmine Falcone’s demise.

Helmed by Matt Reeves, The Batman presents a fresh interpretation of the iconic character, embodied by Robert Pattinson. In this rendition, the Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne, grapples with his early days as a vigilante, wrestling with insomnia and an internal conflict as he navigates his dual persona. The story delves into Batman’s flaws and struggle to temper his rage while pursuing justice. The Batman faces the Caped Crusader with formidable adversaries such as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot, aka the Penguin, portrayed by Colin Farrell.

Centering on Batman’s early clashes with Gotham City’s infamous criminals, the storyline orbits around a serial killer known as the Riddler, embodied by Paul Dano. The Riddler menaces Gotham’s elite while leaving cryptic clues for Batman to decipher. Selina Kyle, played by Zoe Kravitz, emerges as a pivotal figure in Batman’s quest, confronting his black-and-white views on morality.

The film also delves into Batman’s dynamic with James Gordon, portrayed by Jeffrey Wright, as they join forces to solve the Riddler’s puzzle. Throughout the storyline, Batman learns valuable lessons about justice and the importance of optimism. Amidst the turmoil, the Colin Farrell Penguin rises with his own motives to navigate.

Robert Pattinson Will Be In The Penguin?

The series, written by Lauren LeFranc, is an integral part of the Batman universe. There are also rumors of a cameo by Robert Pattinson in the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. However, it will not focus on the superhero, but on the tumultuous underworld of Gotham City. It will also focus on the power struggle between the Falcone and Maroni families. Fans are looking forward to a deeper exploration of the Penguin’s character. It will thus push Colin Farrell’s performance beyond his limited screen time with Batman in the film.

The cast includes Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother) in the role of Sofia Falcone. Also starring are Michael Zegen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Sofia’s brother Alberto Falcone and Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni. Fans were treated to the first gripping trailer for the series on March 22. The Colin Farrell Penguin series is slated for a Max debut in the fall of 2024.
