At Anime Expo, MAPPA CEO Manabu Ohtsuka, Shueisha editor Ryōta Ikeda, and TOHO Producer Masaya Saitō unveiled the first 90 seconds of Jujutsu Kaisen’s second season. Check out the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen S2 E1 down below!

Jujutsu Kaisen S2 E1: Where to watch it?

MAPPA just released the first minute and a half of Jujutsu Kaisen S2 E1. The panel provided insights into the manga-to-anime adaptation process. This included messages from Gege Akutami and Junya Enoki. Moreover, the trailer for the Jujutsu Kaisen: Crushed Clash game was also shown.

Jujutsu Kaisen S2 E1 sneak peek featured a somber tone, showing Suguru Geto encountering a cursed spirit in a dilapidated alley. Geto exorcises and consumes the spirit before encountering Satoru Gojo. Moreover, MAPPA CEO Ohtsuka assured fans of comical and action-packed scenes in the upcoming season.

During the panel, Shueisha editor Ikeda discussed the collaboration between the manga and anime teams. TOHO Producer Saitō expressed anticipation for Toji Fushiguro’s appearance. Gege Akutami’s Q&A session highlighted his inspiration and dedication to meeting fans’ expectations. Junya Enoki’s message confirmed the adaptation of the Hidden Inventory, Premature Death, and Shibuya Incident story arcs.

The panel also showcased the Jujutsu Kaisen: Crushed Clash video game, featuring playable characters from the anime. Notably, the English dub voices in the game sounded different from the anime, possibly due to Crunchyroll’s decision.

If you’re not familiar with the plot, Jujutsu Kaisen tells the tale of Yuji Itadori. He is a regular boy whose path intertwines with Megumi Fushiguro, a Jujutsu Sorcerer on a quest for Ryomen Sukuna’s formidable Cursed Object finger. Through an unintended act, Yuji’s companions inadvertently unleash the Cursed Object.

Lastly, Jujutsu Kaisen S2 E1 is set to premiere on July 6, 2023. You can catch it on Crunchyroll! Shōta Goshozono took over as the director, while Sayaka Koiso and Tadashi Hiramatsu designed the characters. Yoshimasa Terui returned as the composer.

What else is MAPPA working on in 2023?

MAPPA, known for anime like Terror in Resonance, Yuri on ICE!!!, and Kakegurui, has gained international attention through recent works like The God of Highschool, and Attack on Titan: Final Season.

Other than Jujutsu Kaisen S2 E1, fans eagerly anticipate MAPPA’s upcoming projects. The second season of VINLAND SAGA, set to premiere in January 2023, continues the historical manga adaptation. Moreover, the highly acclaimed Attack on Titan: The Final Season, split into three parts, will conclude in 2023.

In addition, for those seeking new anime series, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku is a promising upcoming project by MAPPA in 2023. With MAPPA’s reputation and track record, fans have much to look forward to in the coming year.
