Netflix Greenlights 'Squid Game: The Challenge' Reality Competition Series - About Netflix

The event for Tudum fans in Brazil witnessed the first viewing of Squid Game: The Challenge. It showed that the production will be released in November. It also showed how they built part of the set design and glimpses of the costumes of the observers of each challenge.

In one part of the teaser, we can hear the phrase “The world’s most notorious game becomes reality” before the contestants go out to play the game of the giant doll of the green light and the red light”. We can also see the contestants wearing the same green outfits from the series. Meanwhile, the Squid Game: The Challenge watchers wear the same hoodies with Playstation controller icons.

Netflix announced this unscripted quiz show in June 2022, noting that they would be conducting filming activities in two UK studios. They also indicated that Studio Lambert and The Garden produced it. Moreover, they informed that 436 contestants (Same as in the South Korean series) will have to fight in Squid Game: The Challenge to win $4.56 million in cash.

The participants will have to pass several games seen in the original series, plus some new challenges incorporated to make it more exciting. In order to cross them, they can do actions similar to those seen in the initial saga, such as teaming up, betraying others, tricking them, everything necessary to get ahead.

South Korean Successful Series Reality Version Production Problems

As fast-paced as the development of Squid Game: The Challenge seems to be without a script, it faced several problems during filming. The start of filming for the show was in freezing weather in the UK, which caused several contestants to become ill from the cold and fatigue. This resulted in the studios having a medical team on hand at all times and delays in filming due to the cold and fatigue.

In fact, according to Variety, at least 11 times, they had to stop because doctors had to treat the participants. This is understandable for some, since they had to have 8 hours of preparation before going out for the tests. This wait generated extreme fatigue in Squid Game: The Challenge contestants. In addition, combined with the cold, it caused the set members to collapse.

This situation generated several rumors about the conditions of the games of the Netflix program, which were answered by this company, as by its producers as follows:

“We care deeply about the health of our cast and crew, and the quality of this show. Any suggestion that the competition is rigged or claims of serious harm to players are simply untrue. We’ve taken all the appropriate safety precautions, including after care for contestants – and an independent adjudicator is overseeing each game to ensure it’s fair to everyone.”

Of 436 contestants in Squid Game: The Challenge, only 1 will win $4.56 million in cash. We will keep you posted on further developments so you can find out who will be the first winner of this program.
