Queen Cleopatra on Netflix Breaking Worst Records on Rotten Tomatoes
In the midst of the controversy regarding the casting choices made by Netflix, Queen Cleopatra is breaking all the viewership records on Rotten Tomatoes. Check out the reviews, so you can make an informed decision on whether you want to watch Queen Cleopatra on Netflix.
Cleopatra Broke the Records: 11% on Tomatometer!
Just weeks ago, the news broke worldwide about the controversial casting for Queen Cleopatra on Netflix. We covered this as well, and you can check out the historical facts about her by reading this article.
Fast forward to May 2023, you can now see season 1 of Queen Cleopatra on Netflix. Just hours after the release, this show broke all the records on Rotten Tomatoes, scoring a 11% on Tomatometer and 1% on Audience Score.
If you’re not familiar with the way the scoring works on Rotten Tomatoes, here’s the gist. Firstly, these percentages basically show the number of positive reviews for movies and TV shows. Therefore, receiving anything under 70-80% potentially means that it’s not worth watching.
Does this mean that you shouldn’t watch Queen Cleopatra on Netflix? Definitely not. While many people check out the scores on Rotten Tomatoes prior to watching a show, it shouldn’t solely depend on this.
That being said, some of the reviews people left under the score are quite harsh. For example, Camilla Long, UK Times’ critic and reviewer said “It is a patchy sub-Game of Thrones cosplay interwoven with academics you’ve never heard of”.
Queen Cleopatra: Episode 1 Review
This terrible Rotten Tomatoes score may have to do something with Netflix’s casting choice for the role of Queen Cleopatra. However, this is not the sole cause of terrible viewership.
Yet another bad aspect of this show is the historical inaccuracy and bad acting. “Historical inaccuracies displayed as facts just to fit an idea someone had”, said one disappointed viewer. And we couldn’t agree more.
Cleopatra lived a very fast-paced, dramatic life full of ‘plot twists’. Therefore, the way that this drama took off gives too little drama, and too much bad acting. From seizing the throne for herself, Queen Cleopatra on Netflix should have been a lot better.
