Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher has been a fan favorite since his first appearance. His debut on Daredevil quickly got fans excited. Yes, that included me. He’s always been my favorite Marvel character.

Naturally, the community’s reaction led to his own series. It also became a hit for Netflix. Now, the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again will feature The Punisher again. So, there’s another reason to be excited about the release.

His return marks another heavy hitter coming back to Daredevil. We already reported Michael Gandolfini’s return. And, it also points toward the continuation of Marvel’s series universe. We’ve also learned that Echo will be connected to it.

What do we know so far?

Jon Bernthal reprising his role in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again

Earlier today, IGN reported Bernthal’s comeback to the Marvel universe. According to the original article, it’s still on “reportedly” status. But, there’s little reason not to believe it’s true. After all, The Punisher’s first appearance was with Daredevil.

So, it would be natural for the character to reappear here. The series won’t be a direct continuation of the original. Then, we might see a new face of The Punisher here. After all, the series will have a different tone.

Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher: One of the best depictions of the character

Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher has easily been one of the best depictions. The original movie is a classic for many. But, we haven’t seen much of the character. There’s also 2006’s Punisher: War Zone. However, many fans missed it.

Since his appearance on Daredevil, he’s been under constant praise. Sure, not everyone loves the character. Still, no one can argue that his latest iteration isn’t accurate and entertaining.

Daredevil: Born Again coming in the spring of 2024

Daredevil: Born Again is set to release in the spring of 2024. That said, not everyone is equally excited. Its release on Disney+ has been a red flag for many fans. Some people fear that the character will be toned down.

And, it’s easy to see why. After all, The Punisher and Disney are almost polar opposites. On the other hand, The Mandalorian is a great example of Disney’s flexibility. So, I’ll wait for the release before casting any judgment.
