Superman: Legacy, James Gunn Casts David Corenswet And Rachel Brosnahan As Superman And Lois

Finally, it came true what we predicted for the casting of Superman: Legacy, David Corenswet will play the Man of Steel. James Gunn continues with the preparations for the start of the new DC story; he had previously stated that he had incorporated part of the production team that helped him with the Guardians of the Galaxy saga. Now he has declared that he has already chosen the main roles of the cast of this movie.

Clark Kent and Lois Lane were the first to transpire with closed postulations. This caused several fans to propose their favorites and even draw some artwork with them. However, the wait is now over, according to a report from Variety.

According to a recent Variety report, the actors chosen to portray Superman (Clark Kent) and his Daily Planet sidekick Lois Lane will be David Corensweta and Rachel Brosnahan. These two artists were on the list of favorites to represent this duo in the new production of the Man of Steel.

For James Gunn, Superman is a good role for David Corenswet, whose Midwestern appearance and his Missouri farm video. The actor impressed the director and Peter Safran. So much so that they ended up casting him as the interpreter of the last son of Krypton in this production.

David Corenswet has a pretty good resume to play Superman, one of his best works is his participation in Hollywood. This mini-series narrates the life of an aspiring actor who works doing sexual favours in the 40s era. He also had good reviews in the Netflix production The Politician. His production track record doesn’t end there, as he will appear alongside Natalie Portman in The Lady in the Lake next. 

Brosnahan also has good references for this role considering her participation in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, made by Amazon. She also participated in the Netflix series House of Cards and in The Courier produced by Lionsgate.

As for the development of Superman: Legacy, Safran and Gunn are working in several areas taking care of every detail of the production. In the case of the Guardians of the Galaxy filmmaker, he will be in charge of directing the development of this film based on the script he wrote. In Safran’s case, he will be responsible for producing the film’s theatrical release on July 11, 2025.

Gunn commented that the film will be based on the young Superman version, for which David Corenswet, at 29 years old, is perfect. The story will tell from when the young extraterrestrial left Smallville for the city of Metropolis and began his career as a reporter for the Daily Planet. In this job, he meets his partner and love interest, Lois Lane. In this opportunity, Clark will be in a debate between his principled human values with his ancestry and powers as a Kryptonian.

Peter Safran also spoke about the character indicating that David Corenswet’s Superman will be a Clark Kent who fights for love and justice. However, he is in a place where those values seem old-fashioned and not in line with human tendencies.

There are still some doubts about the rest of the cast, such as who will play the film’s villain, as is the case of Lex Luthor. In addition to his boss at the Daily Planet and Clark’s adoptive parents on Earth.

This movie has a lot of expectations due to the recent failures in DC movies. The last few Warner productions related to this comic book world performed poorly. We can cite both the results it had in Shazam: Fury of the Gods and The Flash movie.
