Netflix has recently revealed the renewal of the series for its fifth and final season. The Witcher season 4 is currently in active production and will be filmed consecutively with the announced concluding season of the series.

In the fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher, Liam Hemsworth will assume the role of Geralt of Rivia. In this way, he will succeed Henry Cavill, who left the series after the third season. The announcement of the fifth season was made through X. Here, the official website of the series shared a short video of the reading of the fourth season. In addition to Hemsworth, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, Cassie Clare and Mahesh Jadu also participated. The post also indicated that Season 5 will provide a “fitting conclusion” to this epic series.

Will The Witcher Season 4 Continue Without Cavill?

The cancellation of Netflix’s The Witcher doesn’t come as much of a shock. Alleged creative disparities between Henry Cavill and the production crew reportedly led to Cavill’s departure from the show. Furthermore, as Alex Kurtzman from Star Trek pointed out, maintaining the longevity of any series in the current era of streaming content is challenging, given the multitude of options vying for viewers’ attention.

Season 4 and Season 5 of Netflix’s The Witcher will delve into the remaining three Witcher novels: Baptism of Fire, he Tower of Swallows, and Lady of the Lake. However, fans are yet to receive any release dates for these seasons. Season 3 concluded with important events that changed the Continent and led to the separation of Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer. In this way, the events of Baptism of Fire were reflected. We now expect Season 4 to continue this narrative arc, probably following the trio’s efforts to reunite.

According to the most recent information, Laurence Fishburne will join the cast next season to play Regis. This is a beloved character in both the novels and video games. Regis is initially introduced in Baptism by Fire as an experienced barber-surgeon with an enigmatic past. He embarks on a journey with Geralt, a story that is expected to play out in the upcoming season of Netflix’s The Witcher series.

Additional Cast Members

In addition to Fishburne, The Witcher season 4 has enlisted Sharlto Copley, James Purefoy, and Danny Woodburn to portray key characters. Copley will take on the role of Leo Bonhart, a notorious bounty hunter, while Purefoy will embody Skellen, a prominent spy from the novels. Woodburn will portray Zoltan, a beloved dwarf character from both the novels and The Witcher video games.

We still don’t know more details about the fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher. However, the series is currently in production. It is possible that Netflix will release the fourth season of The Witcher next year. In this way, it could coincide with the release of The Witcher 4 video game, scheduled for 2026.
