The Kingdoms of Ruin anime just dropped the official trailer, revealing much of the plot, cast, and even the release date. Check out everything there is to know about Hametsu no Oukoku, one of the highly anticipated anime series of 2023. 

What is Hametsu no Oukoku About?

The Kingdoms of Ruin anime is one of the most anticipated adaptations of the manga series to arrive in 2023. More precisely, fans have been eagerly expecting someone to pick this project up ever since the release of the manga in 2019. 

Moreover, if you’re not familiar with this manga/soon-to-be anime, here is the basic plotline. The official synopsis says: “For ages, humanity flourished through the power of magic, a gift from witches to aid mankind. But times have changed. The scientific Gear Expansion has made both magic and witches obsolete. In order to liberate humanity from the blight of magic, the mighty Redia Empire began a ruthless hunt to exterminate all witches. Adonis was only a boy when the hunt began, apprentice to a witch he dearly loved. When she perishes at the hands of the empire, Adonis vows revenge. By this furious wizard’s power, blood will flow!”

The Kingdoms of Ruin is an engaging manga series created by Yoruhashi and published by Mag Garden. Since its debut in April 2019, the series has garnered a commendable rating of 7.02/10 on the renowned anime and manga ranking platform, MyAnimeList.

Moreover, receiving a “good” rating on MyAnimeList is quite remarkable, considering the website’s stringent rating standards. Any series that achieves a 7/10 rating is very successful in this regard.

The Kingdoms of Ruin Anime Plot, Release Date & Cast 

In addition, here is more information about the Kingdoms of Ruin anime. Namely, set in a world dominated by magic, The Kingdoms of Ruin offers a captivating fantasy-adventure narrative. Humans have harnessed the power of magic bestowed upon them by enigmatic entities called witches for centuries. However, with the advancements of scientific tools, the influence of witches wanes as humans become increasingly powerful.

Enter the formidable Redia Empire, a kingdom determined to eradicate magic from the realm and exterminate witches. Firstly, the story commences with the young protagonist, Adonis, witnessing the brutal witch hunts orchestrated by the Redia Empire. 

Working as an apprentice for a witch, Adonis witnesses the empire mercilessly extinguish her life, mirroring the fate of numerous witches. This tragedy fuels Adonis’ vow for revenge, propelling him to challenge the entire empire using his magical abilities.

Accompanying the release of the first key visual, the official Twitter account for The Kingdoms of Ruin unveiled the cast members for the two main characters. In addition, Kaito Ishikawa, a highly talented and well-known Japanese voice actor, will lend his voice to Adonis.

Ishikawa has previously portrayed notable characters in popular anime series such as Tobio Kageyama from Haikyu!!, Genos from One-Punch Man, and Naofumi Iwatani from Rising of the Shield Hero.

The character Doroka will be voiced by Azumi Waki, another accomplished voice actress. Waki has showcased her talent through various roles, including Maika Sakuranomiya from Blend S and Hinata Tachibana from Tokyo Revengers. Lastly, the Kingdoms of Ruin anime will arrive on Crunchyroll in October 2023!
