The Series Comes From The Video Game Series

Fallout is collection of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games that Interplay Entertainment eventually turned into action role-playing games.
The atompunk retrofuturistic setting and artwork of the series, which is set in the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd centuries, inspired by the post-war American culture of the 1950s, with its mix of optimism for the benefits of technology and the looming fear of nuclear devastation.
Wasteland, 1988 video game created by Interplay Productions, is predecessor to the Fallout series.
Fallout is the initial game in the series. Fallout 2, its follow-up, came out in 1997 by Black Isle Studios. Micro Forté and 14 Degrees East developed fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, a tactical role-playing game. A role-playing action game called Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox was still being made by Interplay after Black Isle Studios underwent a shut down in 2004. Fallout: New Vegas, created by Obsidian Entertainment, came out after Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 3, the third installment in the main series. Both Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 came in 2015 and on November 14, 2018, respectively.
Wasteland, a 1988 video game by Interplay Productions, served as the inspiration for the Fallout series. Interplay did not publish the game at that time; instead, Electronic Arts handled distribution. Brian Fargo, the founder of Interplay, claimed that the team behind Wasteland wanted to explore a post-apocalyptic environment. After they released the game, Interplay made the decision to change course and start a publishing company while continuing to make games.
