After HBO picking up The Last of Us and Amazon Prime picking up God of War, Netflix is officially working on a Horizon Zero Dawn TV series. Here are some of the details we know so far.

When is Horizon Zero Dawn TV Series Coming?

Netflix seems to be following in the footsteps of HBO’s The Last of Us! They are officially developing a new series based on the popular video game Horizon Zero Dawn. This comes after news last year that the series was in early development. Amazon Prime Video is also working on a video game adaptation with God of War.

It appears that The Last of Us has inspired a new wave of video game adaptations.  PlayStation, Amazon, and Netflix all committed to telling the story of the games with the same care and formula used in The Last of Us. As producers, they have the time and episodes to bring these beloved games to life on the small screen.

Horizon Zero Dawn TV series is going to take place in a world post apocalypse. This world leaves the humanity to revert back to primitive tribes. Meanwhile, robotic creatures that resemble prehistoric animals are taking the new landscape.

In the video game, players take on the role of Aloy, a skilled hunter and archer. Her mission is to uncover the truth about the world’s past and the machines that now roam the earth. The upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn TV series will follow a similar plotline.

Many game critics praised the game for its engaging story, immersive gameplay, stunning graphics, and impressive sound design. It also offers an open world for players to explore, complete with a range of side quests, challenges, and collectibles to discover.

Additionally, the game incorporates elements of stealth, combat, and crafting to keep players engaged and entertained. As of the current moment, there have been no official announcements regarding the cast members of the highly anticipated Horizon Zero Dawn TV series.

The Umbrella Academy Director Steve Blackman to Join Netflix’s Horizon

Reportedly, the director Steve Blackman, known for his work on the Netflix series ‘The Umbrella Academy’, will step into the production team of the series. Here’s what he revealed during an interview:

“ Horizon Zero Dawn and Orbital are on the surface very different shows from each other and from The Umbrella Academy. One takes place a thousand years in the future, in a world completely remade by massive machines. The other is set near present-day on a space station. From a character- and world-building perspective, there’s a clear throughline: I gravitate to characters who are grounded and relatable but exist on the fringe. Outliers who struggle to find their place in a world of conformity and structure. All my stories strive to subvert expectation and find a new way of looking into the worlds we think we know. If these series gain the success of The Umbrella Academy, I’ll be very happy. But we hope to push the envelope even more, especially when it comes to production where we’ll be using the newest technologies available to bring these projects to screen. It’s an enormous challenge but one that I’m truly excited about.”
