Fasten your seatbelts, folks! This year, Halloween Horror Nights 2023 is taking a daring detour into the realm of video games. They’re bringing the eerily beautiful, post-apocalyptic world of Naughty Dog’s ‘The Last of Us’ from your PlayStation screens right into the heart of Universal Studios!

How’s that for an enticing twist? Universal and PlayStation are collaborating to create a haunted house experience. It’ll echo the suspense and nail-biting adventure of horror game, The Last of Us. The iconic locations from the 2013 game, along with the spine-chilling creatures known as clickers, are going to be right there, waiting for you!

Imagine embarking on this nerve-wracking journey. You’ll tracw the path of the game’s protagonists, Joel and Ellie. The world you navigate will be filled with horrifying infected runners, sinister clickers, and hostile human raiders. But the locales won’t just be any old creepy spots. You’ll be walking through The Hotel Grand and the Pittsburgh quarantine zone, both notable settings from the game!

An ecstatic Naughty Dog Co-President, Neil Druckmann, commented on Halloween Horror Nights 2023, saying,

“As a massive fan – and frequent attendee – of Halloween Horror Nights, we are honored to have ‘The Last of Us’ included in this year’s lineup. It has been an incredible thrill for us at Naughty Dog to collaborate with Universal, bringing the world of the game to life, focusing on even the tiniest details that our fans know so well.”

The eerie experience is slated to run on select nights from Sept. 1 through Oct. 31 at both Universal Studios Hollywood and the Universal Orlando Resort. Are you ready to grab your tickets? They’re available now! Naturally, Universal will unveil more details on The Last of Us experience and other haunted houses in the Halloween Horror Nights series soon.

John Murdy, the executive producer of Halloween Horror Nights 2023, noted,

“The world inside the game offers a multitude of suspenseful and horrifying opportunities to provide guests with a one-of-a-kind experience that can only be found at Halloween Horror Nights.”

Now, let’s turn our attention to the legacy of The Last of Us franchise. Since its initial release on PlayStation 3 in 2013, the game has evolved into a significant cultural phenomenon. Its influence extends beyond the gaming realm, sparking a remake and the critically acclaimed sequel, The Last of Us Part II. The narrative’s popularity has also sparked a successful TV adaptation, commissioned by HBO for a second season.

Recently, Naughty Dog marked the franchise’s 10th anniversary by releasing a Photo Mode Collection and a retrospective blog post on the series’ history and evolution. However, fans were slightly disappointed due to the absence of updates on the much-anticipated multiplayer title under development at the studio.

Still, the Halloween Horror Nights 2023 event is a new source of excitement. It’s a chance to experience The Last of Us in a whole new light. This fresh, innovative approach to interactive horror promises an unforgettable night of scares and shivers, blurring the lines between game and reality.

So, are you ready to immerse yourself in a world that combines the adrenaline-fueled thrill of video games with the spine-chilling spookiness of a haunted house? Halloween Horror Nights 2023 awaits you, with ‘The Last of Us’ experience promising a roller coaster of frights and fun. Get ready for a Halloween you’ll never forget!
