Just days after the news about the Tomb Raider video game reboot, Netflix dropped the first-ever trailer for the highly anticipated Lara Croft animated series. Check out all the details we know so far.

Lara Croft Animated Series Details

Netflix recently unveiled the first trailer for “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft”. The animated series follows the iconic archaeologist, Lara Croft, and seems to embrace the darker tone of the newest games.

Back in 2021, Netflix announced its collaboration with Legendary on the Tomb Raider series, coinciding with the reveal of the “Skull Island” show, now streaming. Though a specific release date for The Legend of Lara Croft remains pending, Netflix has confirmed its premiere for 2024, marking a revival of the Tomb Raider franchise. Crystal Dynamics is teaming up with Netflix for the new Lara Croft animated series, as well as with Amazon for the next game in the series.

Netflix also revealed that the Lara Croft animated series will have a 2024 release. They played the trailer during the virtual presentation of DROP 01. The short trailer showcases Croft’s bow and arrow skills, as well as her navigating a dark cave, and enduring a fiery challenge.

Moreover, the voice actor for Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell, is set to portray Lara Croft in the series, adding to the anticipation surrounding the show. This animated adventure continues Croft’s story from the Square Enix game series, picking up after the events of the 2013-2018 video game reboot.

DROP 01 All Announcements

Netflix recently hosted a live streamed event called Drop 01. The event focused exclusively on their animated lineup.

In particular, Castlevania: Nocturne took the spotlight with a seven-minute glimpse. The clip offered a sneak peek at the debut episode. This built anticipation for its streaming release on September 28th.

Another highlight was the return of the Kevin Smith-led Masters of the Universe reboot, slated for next year. Netflix revealed the epic return by showing an exciting fight scene clip featuring He-Man battling Scare Glow.

Moving on, the popular streaming service revealed the first trailer for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Fans are excited to see Ramona Flowers now working as a DVD delivery person for Netflix. This animated series will start streaming on November 17th.

Additionally, Netflix also unveiled Blue Eye Samurai. This addition to its original anime lineup narrates the story of Mizu. Mizu is a sword-wielding master that lives incognito while seeking revenge. Viewers can catch this series starting November 3rd.

We kept the best for the end! Netflix announced a collaboration with Capcom during the Drop 01 event. The collaboration will result in a new animated series based on the Devil May Cry franchise. Adi Shankar, known for his work on Netflix’s Castlevania adaptation, will helm the series as the showrunner. Studio Mir will handle the animation. With the Lara Croft animated series and many more news, Netflix’s popularity is surely about to break the records this year.
