Oscar Awards 2023 Nominations Features Favorites But No Clear Winner

This Tuesday, January 24, we learned about the nominees for the Oscar Awards 2023. Among the nominated films, there are several with many nominations that we can classify as favorites. Having more advantage Everything Everywhere All at Once, however, as the fable of the hare and the tortoise shows, having an advantage does not mean you are going to win.

The film directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, will have an intense fight with films with many nominations and some with a high probability of success. Among these are The Banshees of Inisherin, All Quiet on the Western Front, Tar, Top Gun: Maverick, Elvis, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and The Fabelmans.

We have many more contenders with fewer nominations, which can spoil the party for other films if they get sloppy.

Everything Everywhere All at Once in the Lead with a Small Advantage

The academy liked the multiverse film the most, as they gave it 11 nominations for the 2023 Oscars. Everything Everywhere All at Once flooded the networks with comments about the film and its chances to make an impact and win the most awards.

However, things are still being determined. There are competitors quite close that can change the panorama of Everything Everywhere All at Once. Among these productions are The Banshees of Inisherin and All Quiet on the Western Front with 9 nominations, Elvis has 8, The Fabelmans 7, Top Gun: Maverick and Tár with 6 nominations. Finally, we have Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with 5 and Avatar: The Way of Water with 4 possible awards.

As you can see, Everything Everywhere All at Once is the rival that everyone wants to beat at the Oscar Awards 2023. This fact is mainly the reason to doubt its victory in the contest since the studio in charge of its development is in the spotlight. It is quite likely that its rivals will go to great lengths to avoid its victory.

If we add the historical data, the chances of success of this film to win awards are lowered. We base this on the fact that only on 4 occasions has the production with the most nominations been able to win the most Oscars.

This is one of many drawbacks of the Oscar Awards 2023. To this, in some of the categories it is nominated, it has quite strong contenders. 

Possible Oscar Awards 2023 Results

The chances are high, considering the number of nominations. However, we must remember who is nominated in the Oscar Awards 2023. 

For example, two contenders in the Best Picture category are candidates to win the award. Avatar: The Way Water and All Quiet on the Western Front are among these. In this case, Everything Everywhere All at Once is unlikely to win, considering the very positive reviews of its competitors.

Another category up for grabs at the Oscar Awards 2023 is Best Director. In this one, the nominees for the favored production are Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. They are also strong contenders, although they will be challenging, as Steven Spielberg is the favorite in this award with The Fabelmans.

Michelle Yeoh shined in her role as the lead actress in Everywhere All at Once, which earned her a nomination. However, she has strong competition in the case of Tár, starring Cate Blanchett. 

Another nomination for the film is Best Costume Design. In this one, the critics give as their favorite Mary Zophres with Babylon. Shirley Kurata will have to work hard to win this award. 

Looking at the different nominations, we see that only some things are so pretty for Everywhere All at Once. Moreover, considering that it can only win a few awards since it has a very tough battle in each of the categories of the Oscar Awards 2023.

This implies that we will have a pretty entertaining night and a lot of action. Hopefully, this year without Chris Rock getting slapped by Will Smith.
