Daredevil: Born Again Set Photo Provides Fresh Glimpse Of Jon Bernthal’s Comeback as The Punisher

In a recently released behind-the-scenes snapshot from Daredevil: Born Again, Jon Bernthal appears worn out and injured as he embodies the role of The Punisher.

Previously, it had been confirmed that Jon Bernthal would return to portray his character from Daredevil and The Punisher in the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. Amidst production, a fresh image surfaced on Instagram, posted by @littlepandapit. This picture offers a detailed glimpse of Bernthal. Also, the image suggests that Bernthal had recently wrapped up a fight sequence for the series, evident from the visible cuts and blood on his face, as well as his battered knuckles. The accompanying caption thanked Bernthal for his cooperation in capturing the moment. It states, “Thank you to for being awesome and taking a picture with me!”

Jon Bernthal Statements About The Punisher Character

“I believe there’s a profound reason why The Punisher has connected so deeply and passionately with comic book enthusiasts. Also with first responders, military personnel, and individuals worldwide,” Bernthal expressed in an interview with Collider. “I think there’s a part of Frank Castle that resonates with everyone. He holds a significant place within me, and I deeply relate to that character.”

In discussing the character’s return for Daredevil: Born Again, Bernthal emphasized, “It’s crucial that if we bring him back, we do so with the utmost respect for the source material and with a true commitment to capturing the essence of Frank Castle.” He further asserted, “I’m fully dedicated to ensuring that, if and when the opportunity arises, we approach it with the integrity it deserves.”

Bernthal Allegedly Turned Down Initial Scripts for His Frank Castle Comeback

Reports indicated The Punisher actor Jon Bernthal initially rejected the original scripts for Daredevil: Born Again, prompting a major creative overhaul. After an extensive rewrite, we anticipate the series’ stronger ties to the original Marvel series that debuted on Netflix, including Daredevil and The Punisher.

In addition, other Daredevil characters will return to the series – Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson will reprise their roles as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson, respectively. Wilson Bethel also returns as Bullseye, alongside Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. The latter will lead the cast, reprising their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin.

“Daredevil: Born Again” does not yet have a confirmed release date on Disney+, and the series is in production.
