The new X-Men movie is one of the Marvel Studios projects with the most mystery surrounding it. There’s secrecy because only the studio president, Kevin Feige, knows how the saga reboot will occur. However, a recent report may answer some of the questions. The studio could even reveal information about a new X-Men movie soon.

As the Deadline report suggested, the new movie of this franchise could start production soon. However, it would not be called X-Men as in the comics, series and previous films. Instead, this new X-Men movie would be called The Mutants, which makes sense since this is the name Stan Lee wanted to give them initially.

The Mutants: New X-Men Movie

The report published on Deadline suggests that the new movie’s name would be The Mutants. It does not say anything about the plot, although showrunners confirmed that the characters would appear in unison in this production, not one by one, as with The Avengers.

This article mentions several products to finish Phase IV and to start Phase V, such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, Fantastic Four and The Mutants

The announcement brought controversy to social media, with some fans celebrating the new movie and others criticizing the name. On the other hand, the press considers that the name change is proper to avoid confusion. Since all the films Fox made had the name X-Men, a new name would differentiate them, and that is likely what Feige is doing.

A curious fact about this name is that The Mutants was the original comic’s name. Stan Lee proposed it to the publisher in the 1970s. However, the publisher refused, stating that readers would not know what a mutant was.

The news is not the only related news to Marvel’s presence at the San Diego Comic-Con 2022. Marvel Studios will formally present its upcoming projects. Hopefully, someone will discuss the movie and reveal the plot and cast details.

Marvel is in Hall H at the Comic-Con headquarters, where fans expected them to announce the new X-Men movie. The Comic-Con is usually the place where the most influential films are announced. Rumors say that the panel could involve the end of the MCU Phase IV announcement, with a Crossover titled Secret Wars.

Social Media Explodes With the News

Social media went into chaos when the new name of the production was announced. Some people exploded with joy with the confirmation of this new film. Other comments called for the movie to be made as soon as possible, regardless of the name. The last group of users didn’t like the name very much.

Several users stated on their Twitter accounts their disagreement with the name change. For example, username @CVBrady posted this comment “What is this, “The Mutants”, is this the New Mutants, wasn’t this movie already a bomb?”.

Other comments called for the film to be developed promptly, regardless of the film’s name. One example was the comment from user @Horny Gandalf Toad who posted, “The Mutants? DO THE XMEN ALREADY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! USE THE LADY GOD IN MULTIVERSE. DO IT BEFORE I DIE OF OLD AGE. #MCU “.

Many fans are expectant of the announcements and have stated that they wish they would formally announce this movie at Comic-Con. Hopefully, we will have the cast, plot, and possible release date details.

At last, there is a little more information about the new X-Men movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Mutants. The San Diego Comic-Con 2022 could be where Marvel reveals the rest of the details surrounding this film that would reboot the X-Men franchise. Meanwhile, the fans continue theorizing about who will be the new members of the mutant squad. I personally want to see Taron Egerton as Wolverine; who do you think should be part of the new X-Men?
