Liv Tyler Will Return To Marvel In Captain America: New World Order

After many years of absence, Liv Tyler will appear again in the Marvel universe. The actress last appeared in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk, playing scientist Betty Ross. She is the daughter of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and was Bruce Banner’s best friend.

Tyler will have a part in Captain America 4, playing the same role, although with some changes to his surroundings. First, the original actor who played General Ross in 2008 passed away, and Harrison Ford will take his place. Secondly, his father will no longer be a general but the President of the United States.

Liv Tyler Returns to Marvel Studios as Betty Ross

The actress was confirmed to appear as Betty Ross in Captain America 4. Liv Tyler was absent from the Marvel universe for 15 years, although she was in Fox productions, such as the series 9-1-1: Lone Star and the drama thriller Ad Astra, which she starred in with Brad Pitt.

Her return to Marvel generates some assumptions about her character’s performance. Considering the possibility of her father becoming the Red Hulk in this production, there are two possibilities. The first is that she will be the one who helps him become this character to help Captain America solve the situation.

This theory makes some sense, considering several elements. First, in the comics, he transforms to defeat the Hulk, and those who help him are The Leader and MODOK. It is unlikely that they will adhere to this comic book plot. According to the current timeline, Hulk is on Sakaar, and Modok is dead.

So either of these villains helping him transform is somewhat unfeasible. It is more likely that Betty Ross helps him make this transformation, using her knowledge of Gamma rays that she acquired in her research with Bruce. 

The other option is that Liv Tyler’s Marvel character tries to reverse the transformation. In this case, it could be The Leader who transforms him, not as help, but to make him a prisoner or his slave and she, along with Captain America, seeks to save him.

The return of Liv Tyler to Marvel improves the expectations about Captain America 4. This will be the first movie of this character that will not have the presence of Steve Rogers. The character gave his place to Falcon in the movie Endgame when the battle with Thanos ended and stayed in his era, showing him as an aged version. In this opportunity, we will see how Sam Wilson will have to assume that role, which still has doubts about it.

We already saw it in the Falcon and The Winter Soldier series, where both characters fight crime together. With Bucky trying to help Wilson, to have more self-confidence and play his role as a hero.

The film is directed by Julius Onah, who helmed The Cloverfield Paradox. The screenplay was written by screenwriters Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The producers are Nate Moore and Kevin Feige.

This filming is already in production and will be released on May 4, 2024. In this we will see several new features, such as the first appearance of the Red Hulk version, also the appearance of The Leader as a villain in this comic book universe.
