Dakota Johnson expresses her apprehensions regarding the final outcome of Madame Web, citing her uncertainty stemming from the blue screen filming experience. The actress confesses to feeling clueless about the eventual quality of the finished product.

Portraying Cassandra Webb in the film, Dakota Johnson discussed her experience filming the Sony and Marvel movie in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. This marked a novel experience for Johnson, as it was her inaugural foray into shooting a film using blue screens. She openly admitted that the process felt “absolutely psychotic” to her, expressing genuine uncertainty about the quality of her performance. Despite these concerns, Johnson completely trusted the movie’s director, SJ Clarkson.

“I’ve never really done a movie where you are on a blue screen. Also, there’s fake explosions going off, and someone’s going, ‘Explosion!’. Then you act like there’s an explosion. That to me was absolutely psychotic. I was like, ‘I don’t know if this will be good at all!. I hope that I did an OK job!’ But I trusted . She works so hard, and she has not taken her eyes off this movie since we started.”

Drawing on her prior Marvel experience, SJ Clarkson, who had previously directed episodes of the Defenders Saga shows Jessica Jones and The Defenders, brought a unique perspective to Dakota Johnson Madame Web. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she shared her intrigue with the similar female-led dynamic in Madame Web that captivated her in Jessica Jones.

The director expressed her admiration for the psychological and cerebral nature of the narrative. She stated, “I loved the psychological, cerebral nature. Not to sound too esoteric about it, but it’s about what’s going on in head and her grappling with that. Is she going insane? Is this real? She’s battling with that within herself and trying to understand it.”

Clarkson also affirmed that the film encompasses a standalone storyline and unfolds during the early 1990s. Although it is part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, there are no anticipated appearances of characters from Venom and Morbius, though the possibility remains, particularly with the potential inclusion of a post-credit scene. The confirmed cast includes Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, alongside Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced. Tahar Rahim takes on the role of the villainous Ezekiel Sims, with additional performances by Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, and Adam Scott in the movie.
