Many of us know her for her performance in the popular series House of the Dragon. Talented actress Milly Alcock has landed the coveted role of Supergirl in the upcoming DC Universe project directed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Alcock’s remarkable performance as the young princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff was important. In addition, director James Gunn has stated that he saw her acting gifts in this series. For this reason it is a wise choice for the role of the iconic superheroine of the DC cinematic universe. This decision has generated a great deal of excitement among fans. In addition, Milly Alcock brings his talent and charisma to Supergirl, a character that holds an important place in the comic book hero universe.

Actress Milly Alcock Confirmed To Portray Supergirl

Hailing from Australia, Milly Alcock portrayed the young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the inaugural season of HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff, House of the Dragon. Her selection for the role came after surpassing competition from Emilia Jones, known for her role in CODA, and Meg Donnelly, who previously lent her voice to Supergirl in various DC animated films such as Legion of Superheroes and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One.

Many speculate that the new Supergirl may appear in Gunn’s Superman: Legacy. However, Warner Bros. has not confirmed this, as she is currently in pre-production in Georgia. What is certain at this point is that she will appear in a DC-based project before starring in her standalone film, Supergirl: The Woman of Tomorrow.

Warner Bros has yet to announce a director for Supergirl, this project Gunn unveiled at the DC studio’s press day a year ago. The film is based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series, with Bilquis Evely as the illustrator.

At the time of the announcement, Gunn commented, “In our series, we explore the contrast between Superman, who was raised by loving parents from infancy, and Supergirl, who grew up on a fragment of Krypton, witnessing the tragic deaths of those around her for the first 14 years of her life. Also before she arrived on Earth as a child. She’s much toug

çher; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”

Gunn shared Deadline’s story again today.

“This is accurate.

Milly is a fantastic young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her joining the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon. However, I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for #Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by @tomking_tk, @bilquis and Ana Nogueira.”
