Pierce Brosnan Cast as Dr. Fate in Upcoming DC Film Black Adam
It’s been an exciting week in the world of superhero casting news! We started the week by learning that Helen Mirren would be joining the cast of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, playing the lead villain. And we’re ending it with equally thrilling news regarding a similar film that is also connected to the Shazam! universe! Pierce Brosnan has just been cast in Black Adam as Dr. Fate. Based on Brosnan’s history of playing strong characters in action-packed films, we think this is a dream-worthy casting decision!
Pierce Brosnan Joins Cast of Black Adam As Dr. Fate
Serving as a prequel to 2019’s Shazam!, Black Adam will tell the story of the anti-hero otherwise known as Teth-Adam. The character began as a champion of Shazam, an all-powerful wizard until he accidentally releases a dangerous force that winds up killing millions. He later becomes an archrival to the character of Shazam.
Pierce Brosnan has joined the cast of Black Adam for the role of Dr. Fate. The character, also known as Kent Nelson, is one of the founding members of the Justice Society, the predecessors of the Justice League. He will star alongside Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam and Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, among others.

Prior to the ongoing coronavirus, Black Adam was scheduled for a late 2021 release. Unfortunately, the film, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, has gone through various delays and currently does not have a release date.
This thrilling casting news makes us wonder why Pierce Brosnan has never joined the world of superheroes before. Could we be living in a Brosnanaissance? The actor is, of course, best known for his stint as the legendary James Bond from 1995 to 2022. Though, he’s also appeared in plenty of different genre films, including Mamma Mia! and, more recently, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.
