There’s something “diabolical” coming to Amazon Prime Video next year! There is going to be a The Boys animated spinoff series coming to the streaming platform and we know it’s not hearsay because we heard it from Billy Butcher himself! In the short one minute clip, Karl Urban (who plays Butcher on the hit show), made the announcement, saying that the producers asked a few of their friends to work on a surprise for the fans: Diabolical, an animated eight-episode anthology series set in the same universe as The Boys.

What Is The Boys Animated Spinoff Series Going To Be About?

While we don’t have details on what each of the eight episodes will be about, we can guess that they’re going to be just as gory and X-rated as the series. Diabolical is set in the world of The Boys, so it doesn’t necessarily  mean that we’ll see characters from the show; however, there could be mentions of Supes that we’re already familiar with (maybe a mention of Soldier Boy or any other new characters set for Season 3?). In the announcement video, Urban said:

“There is no question that you guys are the greatest fans in the world. As a special way of saying thank you to you, we’ve got a little surprise for you which is going to drop early next year… (Producers Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg) have asked a few of their celebrity mates to cook up eight deliciously unique, twisted, animated episodes set in the world of The Boys.”

Who are these celebrity mates, you might ask? In the credits, we see Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot and Ilana Glazer, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland and Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg, and Aisha Tyler. Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg, who are already producers on The Boys, are also listed. This lineup is exciting for sure, and it’ll be interesting to see what each person contributes to their respective episodes. Producer Eric Kripke said:

“Surprise! We’re almost finished with eight episodes of our animated series, Diabolical. We gathered together some incredible creators and we gave them one rule… just kidding, there’s no rules. They blew the doors off it, delivering eight completely unexpected, funny, shocking, gory, moist, emotional episodes. You think The Boys is nuts? Wait till you see this.”

No rules huh? I feel like audiences are going to be in for a wild ride! The Boys Season 3 doesn’t have a premiere date yet, but it seems likely that Diabolical will come out before then. It’ll be a nice way to hold fans over, at least for a little bit.

Kripke, Rogen, and Goldberg serve as executive producers on Diabolical, alongside Simon Racioppa, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Ori Marmur, Ken F. Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Michaela Starr, Loreli Alanís, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, and Ben Kalina. Diabolical comes from Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios, with Titmouse, Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
