Critical Role Announces New Series Exandria Unlimited In Advance Of Next Campaign
After the finale of campaign 2 on Critical Role, Creative Director Marisha Ray, CEO Travis Willingham, and DM extraordinaire Matt Mercer revealed what’s next. The Critical Role braintrust announced a new series called Exandria Unlimited that will air on Thursdays in advance of their third campaign. This eight-episode series will feature stories set in the world created by Mercer, but featuring new characters and a new Dungeon Master. Aabria Iyengar will run this game, having guested on the Critical Role channel before. She appeared on the video-conferenced series Narrative Telephone and guest-starred in The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood series they did.
Exandria Unlimited will featured some familiar faces from the main critical role series, though. In fact, Mercer himself will join the table as a player character. This is rare, since he’s usually the one running the games. He will be joined by Liam O’Brien, Ashley Johnson, Aimee Carrero, and Robbie Daymond. What makes this a big deal is that Mercer is handing control over his world to Iyengar. The campaign will take place in Tal’Dorei, the continent where much of the first Critical Role campaign took place. This means that many familiar figures from that first campaign could show up, which would delight fans who miss Vox Machina and their allies.
Exandria Unlimited is also the first series on the Critical Role channel that will be live since they went to pre-taped segment during the pandemic. They are still playing on a socially-distanced set, but the CR braintrust strongly hinted that things would go back to the way they were pre-pandemic by the time the third campaign starts. More details about that, will be available towards the end of summer.
The Exandria Unlimited series will debut Thursday, June 24, 2021, everywhere you can get Critical Role.
