The newest rumor to hit the stands is that the BBC will announce Jodie Whittaker’s replacement during the FA Cup final. This takes place on May 14th in England at 16:45GMT. It might seem a little unusual for such a revelation to happen at this time. But, there’s more possibility in this rumor than you might think.
Firstly, Jodie Whittaker’s replacement will be the 14th incarnation of the Doctor. Since the FA cup final takes place on the 14th of May, it makes sense for this rumor to be true. The numbers line up perfectly!
Additionally, the 14th Doctor revealed at the FA Cup final would give the show a ton of extra exposure. Soccer is massively popular in the UK, and plenty of football fans will be glued to their screens, watching the game. What else is popular in the UK? Doctor Who, of course! So, making such a huge announcement during the game is the perfect way to get some publicity for the show.
Who is the 14th Doctor?

Sadly, we still have no idea about the 14th Doctor is going to be. All that we know is that former showrunner Russell T. Davies is returning to man the show for this season. Furthermore, he was at the helm of the show for the reboot. He chose Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant for the roles of the 9th and 10th Doctors, respectively.
Additionally, both of these actors worked in shows that Russell was part of before taking the role of a Time Lord. So, it makes sense to assume that anyone who worked with Russell recently could be in the forerun. Let’s hope that one of them is the 14th Doctor revealed!
Some of the possible names at the moment are actress Lydia West, who starred in Years & Years and It’s a Sin. T’Nia Miller also worked on Years & Years. Unfortunately, both of these actresses have denied that they have the role.
However, T’Nia has confessed that she already knows who the 14th Doctor is. This is quite unusual, as the secret of the 14th Doctor revealed is usually kept under tight wraps. So, it’s possible that this is a bit of misdirection.
When will Jodie Whittaker regenerate?

What we do know for a fact is that Jodie Whittaker will say goodbye to the role of the titular Time Lord later this year. This is part of the BBC’s centenary special, which takes place in late 2022. 2023 will see the 14th Doctor revealed. The last time we saw the 13th Doctor, it was for the Easter special “Legend of the Sea Devils.”
Similarly, we know only a few details about the regeneration episode. It will feature the return of classic companions Ace and Tegan, as well as newer faces like Kate Stewart and Vinder. Iconic enemies such as the Daleks and the Cybermen are coming back, too. Even the Master, played by Sacha Dawan, is returning! We can expect a pretty jam-packed finale ahead.
Whenever we get the 14th Doctor revealed, we can bet that it’s going to be an exciting twist for the series.
