After the accusations made by his ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp’s career took a 360-degree turn. He was immediately fired by Warner Bros., removing him from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. It also caused him to lose his role as the villain in Fantastic Beasts. The actor who replaced him talked about Johnny Depp’s possible return to the franchise.

After restoring his image, winning the trial against Heard, proving that he never hit her and that most of the time, he was assaulted. His participation in the film world could start again, although probably not at Disney since the actor declared that he would never work with them again. However, this could return Warner to his role of Grindelwald, Mads Mikkelsen, the actor who replaced him, stated about it.

Mads Mikkelsen was Jhonny Deep’s replacement in the Fantastic Beasts sequel. This fact was not to the fans’ liking, who wanted to see Depp in the role in that production. Faced with a possible return of this in a new sequel, Mikkelsen commented on Johnny Depp’s possible return. This was during the Sarajevo Film Festival, where he received the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award.

Mikkelsen stated that he would like Depp to return to the role, clarifying that he was intimidated by the character. This is because of the high bar Depp set and having to interact with Depp’s fans. He also added that he is a fan of Johnny and that no one can copy him, as he adds personal touches to his portrayals that only he can do.

Mikkelsen commented to Deadline recently about his experience in the role “It was very intimidating. Obviously, well, now the tide has turned, he won the lawsuit, the court , so let’s see if he comes back. He might. I’m a big fan of Johnny. I think he’s an amazing actor, I think he did a fantastic job. Having said that, I couldn’t copy him. There was no way I could just copy him, because it’s so much of him. It would be creative suicide.”

Este added about the adjustments that had to be made to play the role “So, we had to come up with something else, something that was mine, and build a bridge between him and me. So, yeah, it was intimidating. His fans were very, very sweet, but also very stubborn. I didn’t interact with them too much, but I could understand why they were heartbroken.”

As for his opinion on Johnny Depp’s possible return, he told the festival, “Obviously, well, now the tide has turned, winning the lawsuit, the court issue, so we’ll see if he comes back. Maybe he will. I’m a big fan of Johnny. I think he’s an incredible actor.”

For the time being, we will have to wait to see what Warner decides to make a new sequel to this saga. The last one did not give many profits. In fact, it only gave to avoid losses. However, the return of Depp could change this. It also remains to be seen the actor’s decision, if he returns or not.

Little by little, Jhonny Deep is returning to the film industry, although this time he will not do it as an actor but as a director. This time he will direct the Modigliani biopic, which is based on the actor’s life in the decade of the 10s. It is produced by Al Pacino and will narrate the 48 most shocking hours of the artist’s life.

Depp will not play any specific role in this film. He will only work behind the scenes as a director. The cast will be represented by Andy Garcia, who will play the leading role. We will also have Elsa Zylberstein, Omid Djalili, Udo Kier, Hippolyte Girardot, Peter Capaldi, Eva Herzigová and Miriam Margolyes.

Johnny Depp also spoke about his possible return to the big screen as director of Modigliani. “The saga of Mr Modigliani’s life is one that I am incredibly honored, and truly humbled, to bring to the screen.” He added about the artist’s story. “It was a life of great hardship, but of eventual triumph, a universally human story that all viewers can relate to.”

For the time being, Depp has not said whether he will also star in another film or play the villain as in Fantastic Beasts. However, he has already put himself in action, we will have to see the results of this filming, as his first work as a director.
