The Old Guard’s latest trailer opens up with Charlize Theron driving down a vast desert. It instantly brings back memories of Theron’s bad-ass portrayal of Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road. The trailer, however, quickly reminds us that these two films couldn’t be any different. Take a peak at the new trailer for The Old Guard below and see what you think.

Netflix Releases New The Old Guard Trailer

The Old Guard is based on the comic book by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández, published by Image Comics.  While the trailer doesn’t give off the same superhero vibes as we’ve gotten used to with Marvel and DC titles, we are dealing with some superhumans. The story follows a group of immortals who continue to be forced to keep their lives a secret to avoid people learning of their powers. Though, everything they’ve spent centuries working toward may all come crumbling down with the introduction of a new immortal, Nile (KiKi Layne).

The source material for the upcoming film deals with themes of immortality and learning what is worth fighting for. Based on what we’ve learned, we’re eager to see such an exciting and promising action film hit our screens. It’s especially welcome as we’re about to deal with a summer with no major blockbusters. A Charlize Theron action film is always welcome here!
