John Wick 5 Is Coming, Because the World Always Needs More Keanu
John Wick, the mid-budget action movie of 2014, managed to change the genre forever. With the perfect combination of a tragic backstory, an adorable puppy, and beautifully choreographed fighting, the Chad Stahelski film made enough at the box office and received plenty of glowing reviews that would lead to the birth of a franchise. As we patiently await the fourth chapter, we’ve received delightful news of a future John Wick 5. Oh, and we won’t have to wait forever, because they’re shooting it back-to-back with John Wick 4.
John Wick 5 Is Coming Sooner Than Anticipated
The third installment in the franchise, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (a bit of a mouthful, but that’s okay) released in 2019. So, while the past few months may have felt like a decade, it really hasn’t been that long since we got to see John Wick in action. John Feltheimer, the CEO of Lionsgate, announced earlier this week that the plan is to keep the release date for John Wick 4 on Memorial Day weekend in 2022.
Plenty of filming schedules have been swapped around or pushed back by months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Knowing how busy Keanu Reeves (the face of John Wick, for anyone who has been regretfully unaware) is, we can imagine that catching him at a free time is a near-impossible task. So, it makes sense that they’re planning on filming the fourth and fifth films at the same time.

Everything’s Coming Up Keanu
Another long-lasting, Keanu Reeves-starring franchise, The Matrix, will also have an upcoming release date. The fourth film, known so far as The Matrix 4, will be releasing in the spring of 2022. We have a few tough years of theater-going to get through. Fortunately, it looks like 2022 might be the light at the end of a very long tunnel.
Are you excited about the confirmation of John Wick 5? It’s tough to speculate about plotlines since the fourth film is still in development. Nevertheless, we want to hear your (very early) predictions!
