Originally, Marvel Studios planned the double-feature to include Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, serving as a precursor and setting the groundwork for Secret Wars. However, with the legal challenges involving Jonathan Majors and other behind-the-scenes disruptions, the outcome of this particular installment remains uncertain. Majors, initially set to portray Kang the Conqueror— a role he had already reprised multiple times in the MCU— has since been removed from the project.
Despite these setbacks, there’s potential for a new antagonist to take the spotlight, particularly with the inclusion of Avengers: Secret Wars. According to insider @MyTimeToShineH on X, this aligns with Marvel’s current strategy. While it’s important to approach this information with caution, considering what we know about Secret Wars from the comics, the MCU’s exploration of the Multiverse, and Majors’ legal challenges, the reported plan does appear to have a certain logic to it.
As per their post on X, the forthcoming film will feature a different villain. This would be as a means to “justify the recasting of Kang.” Interestingly, Kang the Conqueror will not serve as the primary antagonist. Instead, fans can anticipate another comic character to assume that role.
The insider said, “Beyonder is still the main villain for Secret Wars.” With The Beyonder’s inclusion, Marvel Studios appears poised to navigate around the complications associated with Kang. After all, Jonathan Majors’ character was initially introduced as a significant adversary in the upcoming phase of the MCU.
We will still have to wait to see how the MCU plans to develop. However, Beyonder is a beloved villain within this universe. Moreover, the insider who leaked this information has already been right several times in the past.
With any luck, Secret Wars will emerge as the most exceptional crossover event to date.
