Exciting casting news is always a hot topic. And while we do care (a lot) about who we’re watching on the big screen, the news of who is going to be behind the camera is equally as important. Our latest filmmaking news is about one of the most exciting upcoming DC projects! The upcoming Batgirl movie for HBO Max has just found its two directors. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be taking the film into their hands.

Batgirl Movie Announces Its Directors

Batgirl is a character within the DC universe that has plenty of backstories. It has been years since she has been portrayed on the big screen, with Alicia Silverstone playing her in Batman & Robin. This film, headed straight for HBO Max, will continue along with the story of the Gotham City Commissioner’s daughter.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are best known for their work on Bad Boys for Life. The film ended up being the fourth highest-grossing film for all of 2020. This is mostly attributed to its early release, as anything that came out after February was doomed from the start thanks to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Though, that’s not to say that we can’t give credit where credit is due! The film became the best-reviewed within the Bad Boys franchise.

This won’t be the first occasion where Adil and Billal dip their toes into the world of superheroes. They directed two episodes for the upcoming Ms. Marvel series while also working as executive producers on the show.

This film has gone through various behind-the-scenes changes. Joss Whedon was once attached in a writing and directing role but has since been replaced. Christina Hodson is on board as the writer (Bumblebee, Birds of Prey) and Kristin Burr (Cruella) will be producing.

Readers, is the announcement of the directors for the Batgirl movie reminding you how many reasons there are to be hyped up about this movie? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
