When Kevin Feige announced Phase 4 for Marvel Studios at Comic-Con in 2019, it felt like we were getting a lot of new stories. Yet, after Disney Investors Day last year, we found out we’re getting so much more. Even with the way the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the entertainment industry (among others), there are plenty of new MCU stories in the works. One of the most anticipated ones is Ms Marvel, the series following fan-favorite character Kamala Khan. Well, thanks to some intrepid set photographers, we get our first look at Iman Vellani in a very comics-accurate Ms Marvel costume while filming her Disney+ series.

As you can see in the images above, the costume for the Disney+ show looks like it was pulled from the pages of a Ms Marvel comic. In fact, folks have started to notice that the suits we’ve seen thus far for the next phase of the MCU are even more comics accurate than previously. In the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier we see Sam Wilson don a suit that looks remarkably close to his comics counterpart. The WandaVision finale also gave us Wanda wearing a suit that feels very close to her classic comic look, while still maintaining that grounded style of Marvel Studios productions.

Often, the costumes heroes wear in the comics don’t seem very practical (especially for women characters). Yet, the costume designers for this latest phase of the MCU seem to be committed to showing that they can be. Upcoming projects with Black Widow, Loki, and Hawkeye (both Clint Barton and Kate Bishop) all seem to have costumes pulled directly from the source material.

Ms Marvel is expected to debut on Disney+ in late 2021 (possibly early 2022).

What do you think? Do you like that the Ms Marvel costume for the Disney+ series is so close to Kamala’s comics look? Which one of the new super suits is your favorite? Tell us in the comments below.
