The Hollywood Reporter stated the possibility of Evans being Captain America again. However, the actor himself responded to the publication noting, “Sam Wilson is Captain America”. He also pointed out that he would like to play the role of the Human Torch in The Fantastic Four again. Something that Evans did not deny, although he did not confirm it was a second appearance in the film. Chris Evans in Captain America 4 could appear as Steve Rogers, third age version. This version was seen at the end of the movie Avengers: End Game (2019). He could appear as a secondary character who advises Falcon in a moment of difficulty.

Captain America 4′ Finds its Director in Filmmaker Julius Onah

Nigerian-born filmmaker Julius Onah will fill the position of director. This filmmaker has already been in charge of several films, such as The Girls is in Trouble (2015), Brilliance (2016), The Cloverfield Paradox (2018) and Luce (2019). The director saw his career boosted thanks to the latter film, which surely derived from his hiring for this film.

His first movies were not all successful. For example, The Girls is in Trouble from 2015 had divided opinions by the public and critics. On the Rotten Tomatoes site, it got a 57% rating. The public’s opinion is that it was a regular movie, good but it did not cause so much impact. The Cloverfield Paradox had strong reviews. Many labelled it as an ordinary movie with nothing special in it.

Director Onah’s rebound would come with Luce’s production, released in 2019. This film would boost his career, be praised by critics, and receive several Indie Spirit Award nominations. Among the nominations, he would receive the category of best director.

Although he has no experience in superhero films, he seems to have the necessary qualifications. It is well known that Onah has experience in the sci-fi world, such as Brilliance and Luce. Because of this experience and the recent success in Luce, he was hired for this new Captain America movie.

As stated by Evans, the shield passed to Sam Wilson, represented by actor Anthony Mackie. Steve Rogers passed the baton to him at the end of Avengers: Endgame (2019). Disney+ cemented this role in the series Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

We saw Wilson struggle between being Falcon and Captain America and how Bucky helped him work with this duality and other enemies. At the end of the series, Wilson would accept his role as Captain America and combine it with his Falcon suit to form the new Cap.

It is worth noting that we saw the new Sam Wilson with his suit in an event held by Disney on one of its cruises. This appearance was fighting against Ultron clones. With the company of other heroes like Captain Marvel and Miss Marvel. This cameo could imply that Disney already promotes the new character using their attractions.

The Production Status

At the moment, the movie is in pre-production. Dalan Musson is writing the plot for this movie. Neither Marvel nor Disney have declared a possible release date or what other characters we would have in this new Marvel adventure.

However, we already have several interesting facts. Chris Evans in Captain America 4 is yet to see, as he passed the baton to Sam Wilson, who we saw in the Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This new hero will wear his Falcon suit, with the adaptation of Captain America’s shield and colours, as shown in the show.

We’ll see what touch director Julius Onah brings to this one, given his experience in science fiction films. Captain America is a very important character for the MCU, so this transition should be done in an appropriate way. Let’s hope that Marvel Studios takes its time and invests the necessary resources to develop a product that lives up to the character.
