Tom Holland Announces The Title For Next Spider-Man Film… We Think

There have been many rumors swirling around about the next addition to the growing collection of Spider-Man movies. Most notably, fans have been anticipating an official announcement that all Spidey actors, past and present, will be meeting up in the film. Unfortunately, we haven’t gotten anything concrete about what to expect (and we doubt we will anytime soon. It is Marvel, after all!) However, we have just gotten some exciting information. Tom Holland has announced that the next Spider-Man title is… drumroll, please… Spider-Man: Phone Home. Though, a similarly timed Instagram post by Holland’s co-star has us second-guessing things.

A recent interview about Spider-Man 3 gave Tom Holland the opportunity to get us more pumped than we already were when it comes to the upcoming film. While not giving us much hope for a return of actors Andrew Garfield or Tobey McGuire, he does say that it will be the “most ambitious standalone superhero film of all-time.”

A recent Instagram post made by the actor gives us an even bigger treat. The upload contains an image of Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon in character. Following is the official title card for Spider-Man: Phone Home. Considering the last film was called Far From Home, and the characters did, indeed, go pretty darn far away from home, this title gives us some clues about the film.

Could this title be alluding to the infamous line of “E.T. phone home,” from E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, where the character is from outer space? Holland has reportedly mentioned that he would like to see his character return to space. So, we won’t be surprised if this is the route that the ambitious film will be going!

While Holland’s title release seems a bit too good to be true, his co-star’s post is what has made us more than a little confused. Batalon posted a similar photo with a title reveal at the same time as Holland, though his sounds a bit less legit. Take a look for yourself to see what we mean.

Well, there you have it. The upcoming film is likely called Spider-Man: Phone Home, though there’s a chance that Holland and Batalon are playing tricks on us. Either way, this reveal does have us hoping that the wait isn’t too far away (or far from home)!

Readers, based on the announcement made by Tom Holland about the upcoming Spider-Man: Phone Home title, what are your hopes for the film? Let us know all of your thoughts in the comments!

Update: Zendaya Got in on the Fun

Everyone’s favorite MJ joined in on the phone, posting a third title with “Home” in the name but even less likely than these other two. She also posted a third still from the upcoming Spider-Man movie for which we still don’t have a title, officially.
