Taika Waititi has created some of the most entertaining stuff out there: Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit, a live reading of James and the Giant Peach to raise funds for COVID-19 relief, and even this Coca-Cola Christmas commercial. One of his most brilliant works though (at least in my opinion) is What We Do in the Shadows. Season 1 was released in 2019 and Season 2 premiered in April of 2020, with another season already on the docket. Well get your fangs ready because What We Do in the Shadows Season 3 trailer is here and the show will premiere in September!

The What We Do in the Shadows TV series is based on the 2014 movie of the same name. The movie was written by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi and revolved around several vampires living together in a flat in Wellington, New Zealand. Clement and Waititi decided to produce a TV series, but this time focusing on a group of vampires and their familiars (human servants) on Staten Island. The show stars Kayvan Novak as Nandor the Relentless, Matt Berry as Laszlo Cravensworth, Natasia Demetriou as Nadja, Harvey Guillén as Guillermo De la Cruz, and Mark Proksch as Colin Robinson. Nandor, Laszlo, and Natasia are traditional vampires, whereas Colin Robinson is an “energy vampire,” meaning he stays alive by draining humans and vampires of their energy by being boring or frustrating. Guillermo is Nandor’s familiar and he hopes to be turned into a vampire by his master one day.

SPOILERS AHEAD: What Did We Learned From The What We Do in the Shadows Season 3 Trailer?

Late in Season 1, Guillermo learns that he’s the descendant of the famous vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, which plays a major role throughout Season 2 as he struggles to understand how he could have vampire killer blood in him but still want to be turned. In the season finale of Season 2, Guillermo actually saves Nandor, Nadja, and Laszlo from the Vampiric Council, revealing that he is a skilled vampire hunter, much to the shock of his master and housemates.

In the What We Do in the Shadows Season 3 trailer, the vampires are introduced to VR and we see Nandor enjoying some actual sunshine, a bird, and a “nudie” girl. Then he proceeds to crash into the wall. The trailer is especially interesting because we see Guillermo in the background. Did his vampiric housemates accept him, killer and all, and are letting him live in the house? How do they have time to enjoy VR when the Vampiric Council is after them? So many questions! The good thing is that September is just a little over a month away, so we won’t have to wait long to see what kind of chaos will occur on Staten Island.
