‘Madame Web’ Incorporates Scenes From Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man 2’
The recently unveiled superhero film, Madame Web, appears to incorporate scenes from Sam Raimi’s 2004 hit, Spider-Man 2.
The release of Madame Web marks a significant moment for the Spider-Man franchise. Despite initial negative reviews, the newly released film has made its theatrical debut. It is also sparking debates among fans about its place within Sony’s Spider-Man universe. While details about its connection remain uncertain, it appears that Madame Web incorporates footage from Spider-Man 2, adding an intriguing layer to its narrative landscape.
It’s been two decades since Marvel Studios released Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. However, fans continue to hail it as one of the best superhero movies. For fans disappointed by Madame Web, which may not reach the success of its esteemed predecessors, there is a silver lining. Interestingly, the film maintains some loose ties to Sam Raimi’s trilogy, providing a nostalgic connection for those who hold the earlier Spider-Man films in high regard.

The connections between Madame Web and Sam Raimi’s trilogy primarily involve reused footage from Spider-Man 2 (2004) and the appearance of a character who bears a striking resemblance to the thug associated with Uncle Ben’s death in Raimi’s original Spider-Man film. This observation has been highlighted in a series of X posts shared by fans.

It seems unlikely for Madame Web to exist within the same universe as Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, especially considering the film is set in the distinct year 2003. This temporal setting presents a challenge in aligning with established Spider-Man timelines, particularly to characters like Mary Parker’s baby, who couldn’t be any version of Peter Parker known thus far. The discrepancy in timelines may suggest a creative choice where strict continuity alignment is not a priority.
