Next Walt Disney Animation Movie Is Coming And I’m Psyched!
As someone that grew up on a diet of Dunkaroos and animated Disney movies, I’m always excited to hear about the next Walt Disney animation movie. Early last year, Walt Disney Animation Studios announced that they would be releasing their 60th animated feature, titled Encanto. Set to be released in November, the movie is about the Latinx Madrigal family who live in the mountains of Columbia that are set in a magical place called Encanto. Well, we have an update about the movie that’s set to come out after Encanto and it sounds amazing!
Tell Me More About The Next Walt Disney Animation Movie!
According to Discussing Film, the next (untitled) Walt Disney animated movie is going to come out on November 23, 2022, and will once again bring together the dynamic directing/writing duo that brought us Raya and the Last Dragon (which, by the way, is the second most-streamed title). So far we know that the main character is named Ethan and he’s a biracial (Caucasian/African American) 14-year-old. The studio is currently looking for a voiceover talent for Ethan, describing him as “playful and quick-witted, but can also retreat. He can be a wise-ass, but he isn’t particularly tough.” Production for the film officially started July 1.
This next Walt Disney animation movie will be directed by Don Hall (Raya and the Last Dragon, Big Hero 6) and written by Qui Nguyen (Raya and the Last Dragon). It will be produced by Roy Conli (Tangled) and executive produced by chief creative officer Jennifer Lee. Hall definitely has his plate full as he’s also working on a Disney+ series called Baymax!, which will be about the loveable robot nurse from Big Hero 6.
While we wait for this next Walt Disney animation movie to come out with more information (maybe a trailer? *hint hint*), you can check out the teaser trailer for Encanto below:
