The PlayStation Plus Collection is a great deal for PS5 owners. Especially for those who didn’t play much of the PS4 era. If you skipped this past generation of gaming, then you missed out on some big titles. That said, it’s not necessarily too hard to play older games nowadays. Thankfully, Microsoft and Sony both feel inspired to keep their games going via backward compatibility. In many cases, the games even perform better on newer consoles. If you have your PS5 preorder and you want to play what to play first, then you might want to start with the PlayStation Plus Collection. Here’s the full lineup of titles in the library and a bit about the program.
What is the PlayStation Plus Collection?

Part of the fun when you buy a new console is the launch lineup. Let’s be honest, Sony and Microsoft aren’t necessarily packing any great games into day one. Sony at least has Spider-Man Miles Morales, but even that is available on PS4. It might be worth kicking off your PS5 experience with a classic title you missed from the past. That’s where the PlayStation Plus Collection comes in handy. The group of games is available to subscribers of PS Plus. When you subscribe, you’ll have access to a curated list of games released during the PS4 years.
The library is available on launch for the U.S., Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. Other regions will have to wait until the second console launch day on November 19. The bulk of the games come from studios within the Sony gaming family. These are studios that are owned by Sony and create first-party games. That said, other titles from third-party developers are also included in the library. All in all, it’s an incredible collection of games to help get you started in the new console generation.

I mean, that alone is a selling point for the PS5. Those are some truly incredible games. Not to mention these third-party titles included as well:

As long as you subscribe to PS Plus, you can keep the games. If you unsubscribe, then you’ll lose access to the titles. I think this is about as competitive as Sony will get in terms of a counteroffer to Xbox Game Pass. It’s not as big or genre-spanning, but guess what? The inclusion of Sony games alone makes it as competitive of a games library. Sony develops better games than Microsoft Game Studio right now; it’s just a fact. Regular readers know I love Xbox, but it’s really not even close when comparing first-party titles.
