Bethesda started off incredibly strong in the PS3 and Xbox 360 days. Titles like Fallout 4 and Doom (2016) also helped keep the momentum up in the current console era. If you’re keeping up with their games, then you know a few misses followed. Fallout 76 received heavy scrutiny and titles like Wolfenstein Youngblood and Rage 2 failed to meet expectations. Two titles that did succeed recently are vastly different experiences. Doom Eternal is a seriously incredible follow-up to a great game. Likewise, the long-running Elders Scrolls Online game is only getting better as time goes on. Both of those titles are now confirmed for Xbox Series X and PS5 with news that Bethesda will offer next-gen support for each game.

It’s enough to have a game compatible with new consoles like Cyberpunk 2077 (which just had some DLC confirmed). It’s another thing to get full support for upgrading the game. Wildly enough, Doom Eternal released this year, despite feeling like ages ago. It actually launched at the onset of the initial COVID-19 lockdowns alongside Animal Crossing New HorizonsThe two made for a funny opportunity for cross-promoting the titles leading up to release day.

The game is already confirmed to get new DLC soon but news that next-gen support is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X is great news. Overall, the game has legs to last another year at least with new content. Plus, the online multiplayer is somewhat popular. This announcement includes The Elder Scrolls Online, which is growing in popularity thanks to things like Xbox Game Pass and great expansion packs.

For those of us who love these games, support for the next-gen, which includes improvements to graphics and performance, is great news. We’re just months away from new consoles and announcements like this make things feel closer than ever. If you’re excited about the recent announcements that Bethesda will offer next-gen support for these games, then let us know in the comments!
