Hugh Jackman reveals more details about the relationship between Wolverine and Deadpool in the upcoming Deadpool 3.

X-Men star Hugh Jackman shall be entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a bang. He will be reprising his role as the iconic Wolverine in Deadpool 3. In the most recent episode of The Empire Film Podcast, Hugh Jackman discusses his character’s relationship with Ryan Reynolds‘ titular character.

During the show, the hosts asked Hugh Jackman to rate the relationship between Wolverine and Deadpool on a scale of 0 to 10. This is what the actor has to say about the question:

“How do I categorize it? Ten being really close, zero being the reality, we’re zero, we’re opposites, hate each other. I’m just talking from my perspective, [Logan’s] frustrated by him, wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot.”

The two actors broke the news that Wolverine will be making his grand MCU debut through Deadpool 3 a few months back. The viral video captured the two actors’ comedic friendship and the riot their characters will bring in the upcoming Deadpool movie.

Wolverine and Deadpool Character Connections In MCU

In his podcast interview, Jackman assured fans that Wolverine’s involvement with the newest Deadpool movie would not make a huge mess in the timeline of Logan. Jackman was referring to the 2017 film Logan, which featured the demise of the character after years of fighting.

Wolverine and Deadpool are Marvel characters that have closely-tied connections with each other. For one, they are both a part of the Weapon X program, which takes mutants and alters their power. Both characters might have fought several times and are polar opposites. But their tandem is unmatchable when they unite. The uncanny and yet fitting relationship between the two earned the interest of many Marvel fans. This popularity led to the serialization of the ongoing comics Wolverine and Deadpool

What To Watch Out For ‘Deadpool 3’

There are no solid reveals when it comes to the plot of Deadpool 3. But recently, Jackman has confirmed that the movie will dabble with time skips to unite the two characters. Fans could expect a storyline from this new movie’s ongoing comic book series, Wolverine and Deadpool. Directing Deadpool 3 is Shawn Levy, who has worked with Reynolds in Free Guy and The Adam Project. Levy previously revealed that the film will have “the same level of carnage as the past Deadpool films.”

Levy, who also revealed that the filming for the new Wolverine and Deadpool movie has already started, said that the movie would “remain gritty and raw in MCU. “

Fans will surely be thrilled with the new film. Those who have read the comic book series will surely be anticipating the scenes coming to life right before their eyes. With Wolverine and Deadpool like fire and water, viewers will surely be expecting character clashes and team up as the plot of the storyline unfolds.

Deadpool 3 will be an MCU canon. This means that there might be inconsistencies with Fox’s X-Men. The plot could entail using a time machine to jump universes or create two distinct realities. How Marvel would tie loose ends with Wolverine’s introduction in the MCU is something to look forward to. There are also rumors which suggest that the upcoming Captain America 4 will be pivotal in introducing Wolverine to the MCU.

Wolverine and Deadpool enthusiasts are already excited about Deadpool 3, which will hit theaters on November 8, 2024.
