Deadpool 3: Ryan Reynolds Announces The Official Release Date Of The Movie
A-list actor Ryan Reynolds took it to Twitter to release a video announcing the official release date for Deadpool 3, which will be the first Deadpool film to be part of the MCU.
After almost four years of waiting, we finally have an official release date for Deadpool 3. Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, broke the news through his Twitter account when he posted a short comic video.

Deadpool 3 will be the third leg of the Deadpool franchise, top-billed by Ryan Reynolds. The first Deadpool movie premiered in 2016, becoming a blockbuster and complete crowd favorite. The sequel came out in 2018 and featured a couple of X-Men characters. Viewers love Deadpool’s genius comedic timing and hilarious breaking of the fourth wall.
The upcoming film will be the debut of the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This change came to be when Disney bought 20th Century Studios. With that in place, X-Men characters and references will also appear in the MCU. Take, for example, Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel and Tenoch Huerta’s Namor, who Marvel confirmed to be mutants.
Perhaps one of the most striking elements of the Deadpool movies is their brutality and gore. The movies are consistently R-rated, which tells much about the franchise’s affinity toward violence. Now that the show will be under Disney, it’s still a mystery whether the company will keep it as is or make the show more child-friendly.
Aside from the official release date for Deadpool 3, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick would be returning to help write the screenplay for the movie. Meanwhile, director Shawn Levy would be the movie’s director. Levy and Reynolds recently collaborated with the sci-fi comedy movies Free Guy and The Adam Project.

Deadpool 3 details: Hugh Jackman and MCU debut
Ryan Reynolds’ video perfectly matches the tone of the movie. In the video, the actor jokingly brags about their preparation to make Deadpool’s debut in the MCU spectacular. He reveals that they cast another A-list actor for the movie: Hugh Jackman. The two actors have alluded to each other online from their silly banter throughout the years, so this is a great surprise for fans of Deadpool and Wolverine.
With the cameo appearance from the star, they reveal that Jackman would be wearing his metal claws again. The confirmation that Jackman’s Wolverine would be in Deadpool 3 means that Wolverine would also be in the MCU. Many fans have been waiting for an X-Men and Avengers crossover for years, and it looks like the third Deadpool movie would be the key to that.
However, it’s not guaranteed that Jackman’s Wolverine in the MCU would be the main version of Wolverine. As we all remember, 2017’s Logan delivered an emotional ending to the story of the main Wolverine we know. Marvel might be pulling the same trick they did with Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness and tap into the wonders of the multiverse.
During the San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel announced their roster of movies that comprised Phase 5. No news about Deadpool popped out during that event. So, Deadpool 3 might fall under Marvel’s Phase 6. That would make the movie be in between Thunderbolts and the reboot of Fantastic Four.
Coincidentally, Deadpool 3 will open a month before Joker: Folie à Deux, a musical movie about the Joker and Harley Quinn. Joaquin Phoenix will reprise his role as Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga will star alongside Phoenix as she plays the therapist turned supervillain Harley Quinn. With these two movies’ releases so close to each other, they’ll surely be fighting head to head for blockbuster sales.
Deadpool 3 will have its theatrical premiere on September 6, 2024.
