The past few months have been filled with release dates getting pushed back. Many films had their original release date delayed due to movie theatres being closed. Others, despite having far-away release dates, have had pre-production delays or have had to stop filming for the foreseeable future. It seems that the only films that we can expect over the next year will be those that have already had the chance to enter post-production. Unfortunately, The Batman has joined the list of delayed films and will release four months behind schedule.
The Batman Release Date Delayed
The upcoming film was originally set for a June 25th, 2021 release. However, the film has had to put a pause on production due to the coronavirus pandemic. Its new release date will be October 1st, 2021. October means Halloween, and Halloween means bats. So, it works, right?
The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, has been eagerly awaited by fans. It will introduce Robert Pattinson’s new take on the titular antihero and will be a reboot of the previous franchise films. The film will also feature Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano playing Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, and Colin Ferrel as Penguin, among others. The stacked cast and exciting first look at production pictures have made the newest addition to the franchise look promising.

DC Changes More Release Dates
The release date delay for The Batman is not the only change in the DC universe. The Flash will release earlier than anticipated, with a new June 2, 2022 release date. Shazam 2 is, however, being pushed back, and will hit screens on November 4th, 2022. The release date line-up follows the MCU’s film schedule announcement from earlier this month.
Having to wait even longer than you’ve expected to see a film can be frustrating. However, for the safety of all film cast and crew members, it’s an understandable change. No matter how much longer we have to wait for The Batman, it just means more time to get excited! It also means that you have more time to watch the other great films from the franchise, like The Dark Knight.
