Both Marvel and DC have had fan voting interaction lately. Firstly, Marvel had fans vote for the new X-Men team member. Secondly, fans got to vote for a new DC series in a March(ish) Madness tournament style. Though it felt like this initiative started just a couple of days ago, we’re already down to the final four. So, which DC comics series have fans voting for the most?

We started with 16 potential titles. Some were so bad that it was obvious that DC needed some filler. At the offset, we had (winners in bold)

Etta Candy: Holliday Hero, Inc Vs Green Lanterns: Underworld on Fire
Not really a surprise there.
The Brave and the Bug: Crisis Vs Zatanna and the King of Nightmares
- Awesome!
Lobo/Animal Man: Scorched Earth Vs Son of Creeper
- More Awesome!
Justice League Queer Vs Robins
- So, fans weren’t keen on voting for a dc series where making sure the entire cast was queer was the only attribute – and then lazily naming said series “Justice League Queer”? Shocker.
Paws Off the Justice League Vs Jessie Quick
- Well, human characters tend to sell better.
Blue Beetle: Graduation Day Vs Nightrunner: Love in Paris
- Boring prevailed either way.
Swamp Thing: House of Secrets Vs Suicide Squad Seven
- Damn. More Swamp Thing would have been nice.
Asteria: The Last Amazon Vs Superman and Lois: Ignition
- Not a bad outcome, but it would have been nice to see a new character.
DC Series Fan Voting Round Two
Now that round two is over, we can see the final tallies on DC’s Twitter Page. So, how did the second round of fans voting for the new DC series play out?
Green Lanterns: Underworld on Fire Vs Zatanna and the King of Nightmares
- Pleasant surprise
Lobo/Animal Man: Scorched Earth Vs Robins
- Lobo and Animal Man would destroy the Robins in the comics, but not when DC Fans are Voting for the next series.
Blue Beetle: Graduation Day Vs Jessie Quick: Control
- A close race, but the beetle was just quicker than Quick.
Suicide Squad Seven Vs Superman and Lois: Ignition
- Superman and Lois won by a hair.
Now, what does this look like for the final round of DC fans voting for the next series?

So, this is going to be an interesting fight. Zatanna just took out the Green Lanterns. Why is that impressive? Because the Lanterns have several ongoing series, generally at least two at a time. Zatanna hasn’t had a constant ongoing series in years. But the DC Comics’ voting fans spoke, and they’d rather see a new Zatanna series than another Green Lantern one. However, will the magician outlast the boy wonders? We’ll have to find out.

Obviously, this is a mistake, right? Who set this tournament up so that series like Lobo/Animal Man and Asteria would lose, but one of the most boring DC series descriptions that fans were voting for made it to the final four. Personally, I like Blue Beetle about the same as Superman and would love to see him in a new series. But not the one DC pitched to us.
When the Voting Ends, Which DC Series Will Fans Choose?
One of the final two will definitely be Superman and Lois: Ignition. But between Zatanna and the King of Nightmares and Robins, it’s a really close call. However, since Zatanna won over the Green Lanterns, she has the potential to move to the final two. Furthermore, if Zatanna takes on Superman and Lois for the title, my money’s on Zatanna. On the other hand, if the Robins takedown Zatanna and move to the final two, Superman and Lois will probably win. The DC fans surprised us with some of their voting so far, so the last couple of weeks will be interesting.
