2020 was filled with a fear of a film and television drought. With filming restrictions around the world, the threat was very real. But nothing can stop the creation of art. One upcoming series is ready to prove that good content won’t have to wait. Hot off his role as an executive producer on HBO’s Watchmen, Tom Spezialy has signed a deal with Amazon Studios and will serve as the showrunner for Silk.

Tom Spezialy Will Be Showrunner For Silk, Among Other Works For Amazon Studios

Silk is an upcoming series from Sony Pictures Television and Marvel. It will be a live-action tale following the comic book character of Cindy Moon. Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos are behind the character who also goes by Silk. Not only is she a part of the Marvel family, but she’s also a part of the Spider Fam. She is best known for her membership in the Spider-Army and Agents of Atlas and has abilities that include superhuman strength, stamina, and reflexes, along with a precognitive spider-sense.

Tom Spezialy will be working as the showrunner and executive producer on the series. He is joined by fellow executive producer Lauren Moon (we can’t help but note the coincidence of her last name). Phil Lord and Chris Miller of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse recognition will also be executive producing, bringing their special spidey senses to the table. Amy Pascal will join them.

The role as showrunner for Silk is a part of an overall deal with Amazon Studios, where the series will reportedly land. Based on his previous work, including Watchmen, Castle Rock, and The Leftovers, we’re more than eager to see his take on some iconic Marvel characters.

Readers, do you have any thoughts on Tom Spezialy joining Silk as the showrunner? Let us know what you’d like to see come from the series!
