The Trailer for Blade Runner: Black Lotus Is Here

As a society, we love theorizing about what could happen in the future. Whether we’re trying to be realistic or just imagine whatever looks the coolest doesn’t matter. The Blade Runner science-fiction franchise, which began in 1968 with Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? jumpstarted some very imaginative views of a future world. They eventually led to various films, novels, and comics, among other works of media. What comes next is Blade Runner: Black Lotus, and we finally have a trailer to help us get excited.

As shown in the trailer above, the series will take place in Los Angeles in 2032. It will follow the story of Elle, a replicant voiced by Jessica Henwick in English and Arisa Shida in the Japanese version. She finally learns the truth about how she came to be and what she is capable of, all while living in the aftermath of the events of Blade Runner Black Out 2022, a 2017 short film.

The impressive English voice cast for Blade Runner: Black Lotus also features Samira Wiley, Josh Duhamel, Wes Bentley, and more. The equally exciting Japanese voice cast includes Shinshu Fuji, Takaya Hashi, and Taiten Kusunoki, among others. Blade Runner: Black Lotus is a co-production between Adult Swim and Crunchy Roll. It will premiere in the fall of 2021, airing in English and Japanese.

Blade Runner, the cult classic 1982 film starring Harrison Ford, took place in 2019. So, we’re currently living in a world set after the events of the film. It won’t be long before it’s 2032, and we’re wondering where our flying cars and replicants are.
