The premiere of Dungeons and Dragons was quite successful, considering the total grossed and the scores it got on the various review sites. For example, on Rotten Tomatoes, it got 91 points from critics and users gave 93 units up to this moment. CinemaScore gave it an A – respectively.
The first-day gross was more than 15 million dollars, and by the weekend, the Box Office was $71.5 million in revenue from movie attendance. That exceeds all expectations for this Paramount Pictures film, which was expected to earn $40 million.
Paramount, however, is not only hoping to impact fans of the Dungeons and Dragons game with a plot faithful to the original features and story. Not everything is rosy for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, considering the obstacles ahead. First is attracting people who have never played the game in either format. Second, the cost of this filming, which was in the region of $150 million, also adds weight.
Another challenge that Dungeons & Dragons will face is competing against a movie of another well-known classic game. We are referring to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which will be in theaters from April 6, 2023, and could interfere directly with this week’s box office.
