2K is responsible for a lot of huge franchises in gaming. On top of being the premier place for NBA and WWE games, they do much more than sports. The larger Take-Two Interactive name into which 2K subsides is full of a ton of huge releases slated for 2022 and beyond. In fact, a recent call showed that the publisher plans to put out more games than ever. It’s a great piece of news to hear after a lot of delays these past 18 months. Plus, we know that 2K will reveal a new franchise sometime in the next month that could be yet another huge name to add to its library of titles.

The Take-Two Interactive First-Quarter Earnings call wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. In fact, the company’s stock dropped following reports of lackluster sales and more game delays. The good news: the company is set to put out more games than ever in the coming years. That includes some new entries in the ongoing series. For example, we know that Gearbox and Visual Concepts are working on some new titles revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2021 Kickoff. We also have a good hunch that a new Grand Theft Auto is coming in the next few years.

The real news that caught my eye, however, was the launch of a new franchise. 2K notes that while the reveal is this coming month, the release won’t be far behind. The studio confirms that the game will release in this fiscal year, which means somewhere between now and March 31, 2022. We have no clue what it could be but some have speculated Firaxis Games might be in charge of it. If that name sounds familiar, then you’re probably a fan of Civilization. The developer works on the new releases in that series and might be taking off onto a new project. We don’t know this for sure, but a fresh tactical RPG would be incredible.

If you have a prediction for what the new franchise reveal from 2K might be, then let us know in the comments! Thanks for reading Comic Years for all things gaming, comics, and pop culture.
