Each group mandates different content, which is why it is so difficult to please them all. At the beginning of the series, we had a completely depressed Obi-Wan Kenobi in his exile on Tatooine. This Jedi Master was nothing like the warrior we were used to be. Expectations were high, and many did not understand or did not have the patience to empathize with the vital moment of our hero. However, the chapters progressed, and Kenobi’s challenges forced him to become a legend again.
This Obi-Wan Kenobi final episode offered us moments full of nostalgia. One of them was Darth Vader’s pursuit of the freighter, inspired by Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Although this time, the target was not Princess Leia but Obi-Wan Kenobi. We knew this episode would feature an epic battle between Padawan and Master, and it wasn’t long in coming. Obi-Wan quickly determined to break away from the ship, forcing the Sith Lord to chase after him, saving the rest of the passengers, including Leia. This moment was an exciting twist, as it justifies that years later, Leia turns to Obi-Wan in a desperate moment.

Ewan McGregor has taken great care in his portrayal of Obi-Wan this time. He has lovingly treated every aspect of the character, from the distinctive Sir Alec Guinness accent to his physical appearance and skill with the lightsaber. His relationship with Leia, played by Vivien Lyra Blair, was the centerpiece of the series. Therefore, it was very emotional to see his farewell.

One of the most anticipated moments of the series was the final battle between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Vader’s obsession leads to a new duel between the two, in a display of saber skills and use of the Force never before seen in this franchise. It’s a thrilling battle that proves Obi-Wan’s skills have returned, showing it off in impressive fashion as he hurls rocks at Vader as if he were a superhero.
The dark environment of the planet, lit only by a moon, provides the perfect setting for the sabers to act as a channeler. On one side, Vader, illuminated in red, consumed by the dark side of the Force, and on the other, Obi-Wan, illuminated with his characteristic blue, embracing the Force again. The choreography shows us changed characters, more tactical than acrobatic, and adapted to their age and circumstance.
The Dialogue Between Master and Padawan

However, the best part of the fight is not the confrontation but the dialogue that accompanies it. Obi-Wan Kenobi’s final episode offers us the reunion of student and master after ten years. Obi-Wan still finds it hard to accept that his Padawan and friend Anakin has become that dark being. During the fight, Vader’s helmet is sliced off, where one of the most touching moments of the series comes in. As half of Darth Vader’s face is revealed, we see the face of the actor playing him, Hayden Christensen. At this moment, his voice is split between the actor’s voice and the classic robotic voice of James Earl Jones. This division refers to the duality and internal conflict that Anakin himself suffers, and that will have its climax in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. This vision of Vader’s disfigured and soulless face is enough for Obi-Wan to put aside the guilt and understand that his Padawan is dead.
An Incredibly Emotional Ending

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s final episode reaches its climax of emotionality with the farewells and reunions at the end. First, we have a “see you later” from Obi-Wan to Princess Leia. This farewell reminds us of all the events between the two characters. On the other hand, there is the first meeting between Obi-Wan and Luke Skywalker. Whom he will know as “Old Ben.” This scene was the perfect moment to introduce the “hello there,” so characteristic of the Jedi Master. Here we see how the bond between the two begins to be generated with the gift that Obi-Wan gives Luke, the small ship that we will see in Episode IV.
But undoubtedly, one of the moments that fans were most looking forward to was the reunion with Obi-Wan’s Master. We have had constant references to Qui-Gon Jinn throughout the series, and it was expected that there would be this encounter. However, this Obi-Wan Kenobi final episode has offered it to us at the right time, in a brief and concise but still exciting way.

We had our dose of nostalgia and a powerful connection to the movie saga, both the prequels and the sequels. A fascinating showdown between Kenobi and Vader gives the fan what they were most looking forward to, the face of the shattered Anakin. In its final episode, the series delivers everything we hoped it would: a new adventure in the Star Wars universe, set in a crucial period of history we’ve never seen before.
Natalie Holt’s reworked themes transport us to this Galaxy far, far away. And this Obi-Wan Kenobi final episode not only gives us a great ending but a new and exciting beginning. Ewan McGregor has once again shown his love for the character. And has given us an incredible collection of moments that will go down in Star Wars history.
