There are some films that you watch for the plot. Others, you watch for the actors. But sometimes, a director arrives on the screen and demands to be seen, and you find yourself watching everything they end up creating. Maybe it’s because of their specific and unique viewport. Or perhaps you love their artistic decisions. But if Wes Anderson is your favorite director, then it’s probably for a lot of reasons. There’s the intense symmetrical framing, the pastel set designs, the unrealistically quirky dialogue. Oh, and then there are the incredible ensemble casts. The latest actress to join a Wes Anderson movie is none other than Margot Robbie. Will she fit right into the weird little world of Wes? We think she will.

Margot Robbie Joins Wes Anderson Movie In Supporting Role

Wes Anderson, best known for films including The Royal Tenenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom, and The Grand Budapest Hotel, has been holding on to his upcoming film, The French Dispatch, for what seems like ages. And while we still have to wait for October 22nd to see his latest project, the next one is already in the works. The upcoming and unnamed film has already cast some of his usual returning actors, including Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton, and Adrien Brody. More recently, Tom Hanks and Margot Robbie joined the crew.

Margot Robbie never failed to disappear from our attention despite the lengthy and unfortunate closure of worldwide theater screens. Birds of Prey was released right before the pandemic, putting it in second place on the list of the last movies we watched before the world shut down (behind Sonic the Hedgehogof course.) Most recently, she appears in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. While many have gotten to know her as Harley Quinn, her various supporting roles have us convinced that she’s ready to distance herself and return to the spotlight as the Academy Award-nominated actress that we know and love.

We don’t know a lot (or anything at all, really) about the role Margot Robbie will be playing in the next Wes Anderson movie. What we do know, however, is that you can count on Comic Years to let you know the second that we do. In the meantime, let us know what type of role you’d like to see Robbie take on!
