Fans of Deadpool, the Merc With a Mouth, can rejoice as the highly anticipated Deadpool 3 gears up for a 2024 release. Hugh Jackman recently shared a selfie showcasing his Wolverine beard, hinting at the restart of filming for the MCU movie. The caption, “Sporting the chops can only mean one thing,” suggests Jackman’s return. Filming on Deadpool had a four-month hiatus during the historic SAG strike. Production was temporarily halted in July. In that month, the actors’ union and the WGA began a double strike to negotiate improvements in wages and working conditions in the entertainment industry.

Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his role as Deadpool in Deadpool 3, with Jackman returning as Wolverine. Initially slated for a May 2024 release, the film’s premiere has been rescheduled to July 26, 2024. Before the production restart, Shawn Levy disclosed that the movie was halfway through completion, offering fans a glimpse into the progress.

“We’ve shot half the movie. I’ve edited half the movie. We’re dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year.”

Filming began in May and extended through mid-July, spanning approximately 2.5 months. Approximately, Marvel Studios produced half of the film during this period. Therefore, it is plausible that the remaining part of the film could be completed in the next few months. Following that, attention would likely shift to post-production and marketing efforts to meet the scheduled summer release date. Fans, who have eagerly awaited Deadpool’s third installment for five years, can anticipate a worthwhile cinematic experience with the formidable duo of Reynolds and Jackman at the helm.

How will Kevin Feige introduce Deadpool into the MCU?

While Ryan Reynolds led the charge in Deadpool and Deadpool 2, these films operated outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Deadpool 3, however, signifies the character’s inaugural foray into the MCU’s expansive multiverse narrative. Director Levy has confirmed this integration, paving the way for Wade Wilson (Deadpool) to embark on new adventures within the MCU. The exact location in the timeline remains uncertain. However, some insiders say that there will be a connection in the end credits scene of The Marvels.

Amid creative shifts within the MCU and discussions surrounding the return of the original Avengers, Deadpool’s inclusion introduces intriguing possibilities. This adaptability offers creators considerable room for innovation, with the potential incorporation of plot elements from Loki to enrich the narrative.

Beyond the return of Reynolds and Jackman, the cast includes Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, and Rob Delaney as Peter, among others. Deadpool 3 will hit theaters on July 26, 2024. Explore Hugh Jackman’s Instagram post featuring the iconic Wolverine beard to glimpse the upcoming MCU adventure.
