Skydance New Media announced this week that a new Star Wars game was in development. The project will be helmed by Skydance New Media president Amy Hennig. Amy is also the former creative director at Naughty Dog and was well-known for creating the Uncharted games. The story will be set in Star Wars and described in a press release by Amy Hennig, Skydance New Media’s president. However, details about the game’s release window and platforms have yet to be announced.

Hennig and Skydance New Media have announced the new Star Wars video game and said that they will be working with Lucasfilm Games on this story. Star Wars fans who have been following the projects, even those not yet released, will remember that Hennig worked for Visceral Games in a Star Wars game called Project Ragtag many years ago.

Uncharted Creator Hennig stated that “I have often described how Star Wars in 1977 essentially wired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative future and life indelibly,” in a press release about the unnamed game. “I am thrilled to be working again with Lucasfilm Games to tell interactive stories about this galaxy I love.”

Douglas Reilly, Vice President of Lucasfilm Games – Skydance New Media.

Reilly stated “I couldn’t be happier to be working again alongside Amy” She and Skydance New Media have the ambition and talent to create a Star Wars adventure. This collaboration is exciting because of their vision to create cinematic, interactive entertainment. We are working closely with their talented and experienced developers and look forward to sharing more Star Wars fan content when it is ready.

Skydance New Media has a number of critically acclaimed franchises, including Star Wars. While it sounds daunting to think about a Star Wars game, it is not the largest studio undertaking. Skydance New Media stated late last year that it was currently working on a new Marvel title. The game will have an original story and will be available on both traditional gaming platforms and emerging streaming services. However, this Star Wars game has not been announced.
