Sonic the Hedgehog is now the highest-grossing videogame movie in the country. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 sits on top of the other videogame adaptations in the United States. But, this is still not enough to make it the most popular movie of all time. It’s evident that the film is still playing in theaters and that audiences will continue to increase.
Further, the Box Office Mojo data shows that Sonic the Hedgehog has a domestic box office of $147.069,418. In contrast, the original Sonic the Hedgehog had a total of $146.066,470. This is due to the COVID-19 virus, which saw the original movie released right at the end and the sequel released while it is still happening. There’s still a lot of work to do before Sonic the Hedgehog could surpass the $439,000,000 worldwide box office total of Warcraft. But, reigning supreme here in the United States was no small feat. And Ben Schwartz, the Sonic the Hedgehog voice actor, was happy to celebrate.

The sequel features the return of the main actors Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, who voices the hedgehog, and Jim Carrey, who plays Dr. Robotnik, the iconic villain and scientist of the franchise.
